GeneralUSACE is planning the drawdown in a partnership with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is expected to begin May 1, 2026, when the lake will be lowered to elevation 374. The lake is expected to reach this elevation by July 25, 2026, and will remain at this elevation until Nov. 1, 2026. The lake will gradually return to elevation 384, depending upon rainfall. During phase two of the drawdown, designated swimming areas within the parks will be closed. Boat access will be limited to a temporary ramp located at Ashley Creek Park. Water activities such as skiing, tubing and the use of personal watercraft will be prohibited. Boaters visiting the lake during this time are encouraged to use extreme caution due to shallow water and submerged hazards. Waveland Park Site 5. Really enjoyed the site. Perfect spot for view of Lake, Mt Magazine, and the sunsets. Had a minor issue with the water hookup, it quit working after a day, spoke with staff, they were willing to move us but we declined. I was able to adjust the faucet handle and got the water running again We will be going back often.

Love camping at Waveland. Beautiful mountains. Campsites are good. Lot’s of trees. Fishing is great. Nice place for family camping.

Great campground! We stayed in our 35 ft fifthwheel in site 8 (great site!), this is a place where most people seem to come for the boating/fishing. So the roads are a bit tight when people park on the shoulders, but it was navigable so long as you know where your rigs clearances are - an experienced driver shouldn't have trouble but a newbie might. We had an easy back in spot, lots of room at our site, the sites seemed well maintained and the whole park in general was very clean and cared for. The showers were nice and got good and warm, the kids playground was super cute, my 4yo and 2 yo loved the swings and slides. All of the views were great! Watch out for the algae blooms (its seasonal), and the no-seeums came out at night but that's normal too. It was very beautiful and peaceful! We will be back!

We loved the campsite we were in, everything was great. Being Memorial Day weekend I guess they couldn’t keep up with the septic tank. When we opened the black water the holding tank was full. Made for a nasty mess. But we’ll be back.

Site 44 is great. We usually always stay in this area. Bring your 50 to 30 amp converter. The site fit our 34’ camper just fine.

- We have combined the Waveland and Outlet gatehouses to more efficiently serve you. We are using the Outlet area gatehouse only. It is located at the top of the hill directly in front of the project office.
- All sites are reservable.
- Park attendants are on duty.
- Certain areas of the lake and parks may close due to high lake levels or storm damage
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
