The shower facilities were locked. This is the first time that I’ve camped here in over 15yrs that the campgrounds locked the showers this late into the season. There was also no envelopes to deposit the cash site side of the facility. Was very disappointed as I was going to pay for my friend to stay a few nights. We ended up leaving as a heavy storm was coming in, with threat of tornadoes/hail, etc. The showers/bathrooms would have been a nice place to find refuge in case of a major storm, btw..

Cove Lake is one of the best "old school" campgrounds in the USA!

We had a wonderful experience. Rented the pavilion, which has plenty of tables and space, multiple electrical outlets. Convenient distance to restroom and swimming area. Beautiful scenery all around. All areas clean and well kept.

We love cove lake and wish it was open all year. It’s a great quiet campground. The spots are secluded and large.

We love this campground/day use area and have been staying there for years. Whoever the camp hosts are now seem to be doing less than the bare minimum. I really hope that it was just because it was early in the season but this is the worst shape I’ve seen it in. Bathrooms in the day use areas and camp loop didn’t look like they’d been cleaned in months. Sad to see honestly.

I’ve been coming to this site since I was a kid (no in mid 20s) and it’s my families go to camping spot in Western Arkansas. We’ve already decided this will our sons annual birthday camping spot.
It’s perfect. It’s got tons of trees, and the lake. Most other locations you’ve got the trees and no water, or the water and barely any trees.
If you’re looking for a well-shaded, beautiful scenery, no cell-serviced spot, this is where you want to be.
The family that currently maintains the park are fantastic. They’re the sweetest and will do anything in their power to keep the campground safe and the campers happy. All that and teaching their children the value of hard work.
Side note: if you use propane lanterns that require mantels, pack extra. The Walmart in town and the concession don’t carry them. You’d have to go up the mountain to the visitor center to purchase. We learned that the hard way.
