GeneralUSACE is planning the drawdown in a partnership with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is expected to begin May 1, 2026, when the lake will be lowered to elevation 374. The lake is expected to reach this elevation by July 25, 2026, and will remain at this elevation until Nov. 1, 2026. The lake will gradually return to elevation 384, depending upon rainfall. During phase two of the drawdown, designated swimming areas within the parks will be closed. Boat access will be limited to a temporary ramp located at Ashley Creek Park. Water activities such as skiing, tubing and the use of personal watercraft will be prohibited. Boaters visiting the lake during this time are encouraged to use extreme caution due to shallow water and submerged hazards. The water had gone down from when we were there before so it was awesome! We had the best time swimming, cooking, and playing! We are coming back one more time and I am very excited!! The Corp s keeps the area so well maintained!!!

The campground is very clean, well-kept, and quiet. The views are beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay. The only issue we had was finding out that the spot we had book could not accommodate our (35') motorhome. Spots 48, 49, and 50 are on a mound together and although 49 and 50 are big enough, the slope up to them is not navigable to motorhomes. Ranger Wade was an absolute wonder and worked miracles to find us another spot. We will definitely keep this campground in our places to visit.
As for activities, there is a beach area to swim and multiple boat launch areas. Mount Magazine is a 30 minute drive with amazing lookout views, a lodge with a restaurant and plenty of trails to hike. We also visited Cowie Wine Cellars and Vineyards, a small vineyard near Paris. They had an interesting museum of winemaking to walk through, gave wine tastings and had wine for sale.

The campground and its facilities were die an and in good shape. The real issue we had was the site we had. It was #42, it says it will fit up to a 40' vehicle. At best it can fit a 30' vehicle. I had to place several blocks under the tires and lower my tongue jack as low it would go and could still not get level. Other had the same problems.

We love going to Waveland, it is peaceful, clean and sites are decent. The lake is beautiful, our grandkids had a blast tubing and swimming.

- We have combined the Waveland and Outlet gatehouses to more efficiently serve you. We are using the Outlet area gatehouse only. It is located at the top of the hill directly in front of the project office.
- All sites are reservable.
- Park attendants are on duty.
- Certain areas of the lake and parks may close due to high lake levels or storm damage
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
