GeneralUSACE is planning the drawdown in a partnership with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is expected to begin May 1, 2026, when the lake will be lowered to elevation 374. The lake is expected to reach this elevation by July 25, 2026, and will remain at this elevation until Nov. 1, 2026. The lake will gradually return to elevation 384, depending upon rainfall. During phase two of the drawdown, designated swimming areas within the parks will be closed. Boat access will be limited to a temporary ramp located at Ashley Creek Park. Water activities such as skiing, tubing and the use of personal watercraft will be prohibited. Boaters visiting the lake during this time are encouraged to use extreme caution due to shallow water and submerged hazards. We love going to Waveland, it is peaceful, clean and sites are decent. The lake is beautiful, our grandkids had a blast tubing and swimming.

We stayed in stop 06 and it was really rough to get our 25' camper backed in and leveled. We were able to get it settled in and it was a good stay. We did a little canoeing and the swim area was good for the kids. The lake has a lot of cypress trees in it and makes for good canoeing and kayaking.

Awesome lake with lots of fishing and a small playground. Would love to see a basketball goal installed somewhere around park for teenagers.

Site 6 was horrible for novice campers . It is extremely difficult to park in that site . The water connection was at least 15 ft from the electric box. Luckily we had 2 hoses to connect that just barely reached . Otherwise, the view of the lake from that site was great .

General
- We have combined the Waveland and Outlet gatehouses to more efficiently serve you. We are using the Outlet area gatehouse only. It is located at the top of the hill directly in front of the project office.
- All sites are reservable.
- Park attendants are on duty.
- Certain areas of the lake and parks may close due to high lake levels or storm damage
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
