Cowhide Cove is a quiet and clean campground. The bathhouse was very clean with great hot water. I liked the design, which put the showers in a separate part of the building from the toilets. It kept the humidity down and the floors dry where you want them to be.
Even though the campground was 95% full the nights that we stayed, it still felt peaceful and quiet. The tent only spots (35 and 36) are very close to each other, but apart from the rest of the camp. We didn't hear any generator noise. I'm also glad my family booked both tent spots, otherwise, we would have been a little too close for comfort.
We didn't witness any ranger patrols and even though we know the host was present, they didn't come around to chat. However, when a new camper lit up a toasty campfire (in spite of the burn ban and the very visible banners at the entrance notifying us) the ranger was present in an instant to douse it.
Close to Crater of Diamonds for digging, but not much else. Even with the lake low, the views of the water were still beautiful. We hope to come back when it is not so dry.

Nice, clean and quiet campground with beautiful views of the lake. Many of the sites had plenty of room to spread out. Some sites offered full hookups which is always a plus. Trash collection daily during our stay. Pretty nature trail through the woods easy enough for kids to navigate. Great proximity to boat launch! We will be back!
