Always love camping here! Would like for lower loop of new cowhide to at least have bathroom. Showers were hit or miss this time … usually hot and great water pressure but was sketchy this trip.

RV site pretty small. It was somewhat wet on arrival then more rain 2 days later on trip. Not a big deal except the site was grass and a little gravel. Allowed the camper to not be level. Other than that, everything went ok.

Had a great time at the camp ground stayed the to go hunting for the weekend camp site was nice and clean and easy to get to loved the full hook up.

Site 19 and 20 would be next to impossible for anything longer than a 15 ft trailer. But the full hookups were awesome. We didn’t use the bathrooms or showers, but we saw them being cleaned daily. The small metal garbage cans were emptied every day as well. Our power went out in the camp post was nice enough to come by and inform us that it would be on soon. We drove into hot Springs from our campsite and it was a perfect homebase for our trip. We also tried our hand at finding a diamond in the nearby the diamond crater park. Go into town at Murphreesboro and enjoy a delicious malt at Hawkins variety store. There was one hiking trail that started in the campground, but we didn’t have enough time to go check it out like we had wanted. The lake was beautiful in the fall, which is when we went. We did get infested on our last day with Japanese ladybugs, which are an invasive beetle looking thing that looks like a ladybug but it’s not. our site had full hook ups and it was great. Our site was also not level, but that wasn’t a problem for us. it was only off by a couple of inches so it was easy to fix.

Getting There
From Hot Springs, Arkansas, take Highway 70 west for 41 mi to Kirby. Continue onto Route 27 south for 5 mi to Cowhide Cove Access Road. Turn right on the access road and drive 2 mi to the campground.
Highway access
Cowhide Cove is accessible via Highway 70 and Route 27. Highway 70 is the primary route from Hot Springs, approximately 41 miles to Kirby, where you can connect to Route 27 south for an additional 5 miles to the campground.

- A reservation confirmation number is required before setting up your campsite. Transactions must be made through recreation.gov or by phone.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Cancellation policy
- Arrivals more than 24 hours late must call to avoid a cancellation and fees.
Utilities
- Dumping gray water is not allowed; use the designated dump station.
Safety & rules
- Dispose of trash daily in designated receptacles; do not use fire rings or hang trash inappropriately.
- Maintain a clean site during your stay and clean up before leaving.
Pets
- Pets must be restrained, not left unattended, and waste must be disposed of; pets are not allowed in certain areas.
Site capacity
- Maximum stay of 14 days during peak season, with no extensions allowed.
