What Guests Are Saying
Prairie Creek offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience, with clean facilities and a lovely location by Beaver Lake, perfect for outdoor activities like boating and hiking. Many visitors appreciated the spacious sites, helpful staff, and the amenities available, including a marina and restaurant. However, some campers noted issues with poorly marked trails, uneven sites, and maintenance concerns, particularly with exposed hazards and cleanliness. Overall, it remains a favored destination for many.

Overall the experience was mostly nice. We camped on a Monday night and it was quite peaceful and quiet for the most part. The campground area was clean and easy to set our tent up in. Here are my only complaints: First: the swim area has exposed rebar sticking out of the ground in various places that are not covered or marked and are quite dangerous, should one fall or trip onto them; Second: the hiking trail was not clearly marked, and had multiple trees and limbs going across the trail in places making it impossible to stay on the trail at times. We sort of got lost due to this and ended up just cutting through the woods up a hill to try to get back to "civilization." It all ended fine, but not the pleasant hike we were hoping for. The lake itself is beautiful though, and you can get wonderful views of it via the hiking trail, so it all turned out alright. We will be coming back, as this is the closest campground for us now that Wedington is going to take several more years to reopen.

Very nice park, location is great, water areas to enjoy, beach and areas of shore to play with your dog in the water.Huge marina, lots of boating taking place. Great restaurant at the marina.
The area is very hilly, sites ate generally sloped, definitely need additional blocking to help level. It doesn’t appear the volunteers do much in way of cleaning or straightening the sites. You will see them drive through the check passes, but other than that.
We were there over a weekend and it becomes very busy very family oriented lots of pavilions. One dump station on the way out a very tight turn to get to the dump especially with a large class A
No problem with 50 amp service that was great water pressure appeared to be a little bit low other than that we enjoyed ourselves there
We are at site 50

Campsite #84
Not many campers in our area so it was pretty quiet while we were there. The traffic going to the lake got noisy at times with the road behind our site. This site is kind of hard to back in to and is pretty sloped. I was surprised that there isn’t many bathroom, with the amount of campsites. There’s a pit toilet up the steep hill from this site.
Overall, I wasn’t impressed with the campground. It’s old and tired. The amount of trees down that haven’t been cleared and trash everywhere was disappointing to see.
The campground host was super nice and the ability to change your reservation online was incredible! We originally reserved site #18 which was horrible! When we arrived we noticed the site was small and the camper in #17 was very close. The picnic table was within feet of their camper and there was zero privacy. They had at least two little barking dogs and constantly yelled at them. Very thankful there were empty sites and we could go online and switch easily. Otherwise it would have been a miserable weekend.

We love meeting at the Grand Pavilion at the Prairie Creek Recreational Area. It is perfect for our church wide cookout and close to the lake for our baptism service. Thank you for providing such a wonderful place for us to meet. The tables, kitchen area and access to restrooms are fantastic.

Beautiful camping among the oaks, a plethora of day use options, enormously helpful volunteers, a terrific place to relax, watch the boats, and basketball in shade and sun as you prefer.

Overall, the park was beautiful. The campsite is picked was difficult. I have a very small camper. It was still hard to get it into the spot. It didn't help that there was a foot drop off on one side of site 34. Showers were warm at best. The first shower I took, the shower stayed on for a bit. But I flooded the shower house. So I used the handicap shower from then on. That shower was a bit warmer, but did not stay on long at all.

The parking spot we were at was beautiful, #97, but the parking place needed major repair.
