Had a great weekend hanging out with friends enjoyed the campground great view of the lake

Great little spot for a mini getaway if you're looking for something less than three hours from the Bay Area. Was able to get a great little spot that overlooked the water and was fairly generous in size.
I do wish the spot was a bit flatter and had a few more trees. In the warmer weather was aiming to have some shade over the tents by placing under the only trees in the spot. Unfortunately the area was on a slight slant that was definitely felt at night while trying to lay down. My air mattress would slowly slide throughout the night. My friends tent was perpendicular to mine, so while I was able to at least slide feet first, she was sliding/rolling sideways.
Restrooms were in decent condition, fully stocked the whole time. The swim beach - highly recommend water shoes for the entirety. Or if you have a boat/rent a boat (or kayak, paddle board, etc) and can head out to the center where the water is a bit clearer.
Spend some time in Downtown Angel's Camp, super cute little area with several shops, that are barely touched by modern day.
Definitely will plan to revisit one day!

Blue Oak sites 123 and 124 were clean, spacious and flat. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Our sites were great for a view of the lake and some shade. Many of the sites were on slopes so flat sleeping areas were few. Rangers were helpful and kind when we had a challenge with decontamination of the boat. If you’re a boater the marina gift shop is worth a visit. We boat at many lakes and this one had every supply imaginable plus a wide array of cool gifts.

Overall experience was great, place was quiet, clean and reserved.

Everybody around was considerate, bo noise after 10.

Relaxing get away for the weekend, which was exactly what we wanted.

Flat surface good for about 2, 3 people tents.

Bathrooms were easily accessible.

For the whole campsite, I would give a 4, but for my particular site, Ironhorse #17, I give a 3. While #17 was chosen because of its close proximity to the bathroom/shower, the dangerously steep decline/incline from the parking pad to the tent/fire pit/picnic table will keep me from renting this space again. Trekking heavy gear from the car to the tent was ridiculous in that you had to carefully watch your footing or else you'll fall. Going back and forth to unload and then doing it all again when it was time to leave was a precarious total body workout. As for the amenities, the bathroom was clean and had two toilets plus one shower. Although previous reviews said that the showers were coin-operated, the machine has been removed, the one shower is free and has a hand held shower head which pleasantly surprised me. Due to the lack of grading, the shower water does flow into the bathroom stalls. Initially, it didn't look like the bathrooms had any hand soap as there was only an empty bottle left; however, on the day I was leaving, maintenance replaced the empty bottle with a full bottle. If you wash your hands, bring your own soap and towel. On the wall, there are two precious outlets which I really appreciated. Throughout the day, I enjoy having a cup of tea and use my travel electric water kettle to boil my water. Speaking of water there was a water spigot on either side of our camp site which was convenient. If it wasn't raining, I would have used the fire pit which seems to be a rarity these days in CA as many places do not allow them.

Big clean campground. Flush toilets were functional and decent clean. Good view of the reservoir from site 62.

The site is well maintained and the views are beautiful. There is a large tree for shade. The only minor complaint is that there are no water spigots/bathrooms nearby. Otherwise, it was fantastic.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. The campground was spread out with plenty of room between campers. We spoke to 3 different rangers during our stay. All three with great and fun to talk to. We had only planned a one night stay but we liked it so much we stayed two nights!
