Forks Campground (Sierra)

Great campground; would give it 5 stars but due to its venue, it seems popular for large groups to head to and camp-making it a little loud at night. The road around the lake is also right next to the campground, and there's a grate in the road that every car hits driving over it that is loud. There is a little separation between the majority of the sites with trees/shrubs which is nice. I have an overland truck with a rooftop tent. I booked site 7 due to ratings, but the camp host was able to move me to site 24, which allowed me to pull right up to the picnic table instead of having a drop off from the parking spot to picnic table/fire ring. If you have an overland vehicle/campervan, site 24 and 25 are good spots. Bathrooms are well maintained-flush toilets and sinks (no showers). Town is about 10 min away for groceries or restaurants and September seems to be a quieter time of year-less day visitors to Bass Lake. Great trail for mountain biking/hiking that starts past the bathrooms by site 24.

Campground Host Steven deserves praise for keeping a clean campground & welcomed us by name upon arrival. Best host we’ve experienced in years at lake. Good location & pleased with our stay, except for unresolved water issues including limited restroom access.

This spot was beautiful and has its share of wildlife. The camp host is awesome.

We stayed at site 18 which was fantastic. It is the largest site in the campground and easily had enough room for 2 (even possibly 3) tents. Steve, the campground host was very attentive and supportive; very friendly and offering to help at any hour. Be aware that there are bears in the vicinity, The site next to ours was much smaller and there was a group of guys who left their cooler out and the first night a bear did get in to it. We had a dog and no issues with the bear. Steve let us know that the bear regularly visits but no issues if your food etc is put away. Quiet campground, clean bathrooms. Recommend!

Loved the experience. I had space 3 right next to the restaurant and a little arm of the lake.

Steven our campground host was amazing. His team kept the facilities cleans ESPECIALLY THE BATHROOMS! Highly recommend staying here

The campsite itself while a bit narrow was clean, well-maintained and had everything we need and the camp post was very nice. The neighbors had a pitbull that was off a leash and it charged a woman who was walking by. It was also a fair amount of partying going on. You could hear a lot of boat traffic with loud music and etc. from Base Lake and this campsite backs up onto a road, although the road noise was minimal. For some reason, someone decided to carry out firearms training until 1 o’clock in the morning somewhere in the vicinity, we heard semi automatic gunfire for hours after dark so they really weren’t any quiet hours. The chief knock on this campsite. Is that all the best lake noise can be heard from it although it’s access to goat Mountain Trail and Bass Lake facilities is incredibly convenient.
