What Guests Are Saying

Plaskett Creek Campground offers a beautiful, peaceful setting just a short walk from Sand Dollar Beach, making it a great spot for camping. Many visitors praised the friendly camp hosts and the spacious, scenic environment, ideal for families and pets. However, the campground faces criticism due to the lack of potable water and restroom facilities, with porta potties being the only option, which some found unsatisfactory.

We heard in advance that there would only be porta-potties available (that the restrooms were closed), but we did not know in advance that there was no potable water at the Plaskett Creek campgrounds.
My understanding is that it is basic a public health practice to at least have potable water available at any type of event or place where people will eat and cook. Shouldn't the entity charging for the campsites have shut the facility down because they could not provide the basic service of providing potable water?

Great camp ground, but the toilets are atrocious! Out of order pit toilets that it appears the state parks are just letting go. Filled up with locked doors and insanely bad aroma that permeates the campground. Not sure why they don’t have them pumped empty, but I’m sure they have a reason. Just make sure your site is not near one. You will regret it.

Site 23 is very private but slightly sloped so finding a flat spot for a tent is a challenge. Proximity to Sand Dollar Beach is amazing!

Not a great experience with portable bathrooms and no potable water (and signs by spigots that say no washing, rinsing, drinking etc - everything a human would want to use water for)

Being an easy walk to Sand Dollar Beach and Jade Cove makes this site a dream. It's fairly small which is also nice.

Amazing stay!! Camp host on duty was very kind and shared their knowledge about the area. Nice and quiet camp at most times, but some kids yelling off in the distance into the later hours. Family and pet friendly! Recommend crossing the road and checking out the sands picnic area. Greta views!

Good campsite with beach right across the street. They had porta potties that weren't too bad in the beginning but got worst really fast, it was gross.

Disappointed that the bathrooms were not open. We arrived on Thursday and the portapotties were clean and fine. By the time we left on Sunday, they were destroyed. The budget cuts are sadly evident throughout the area as one of our favorite hikes, the one to McWay Falls was also closed off inexplicably. Big Sur is always beautiful but its not as sleepy as it was when I came growing up.

This camp site is easily the best campsite in National Park system for short term stay. The camp host is friendly & helpful, the weather is mild, the camp is quiet with mostly filies, the camp is large and private. Even you can hear ocean, but it is not windy at all. The only issue is the water tank up the hill is broken, so we had to used vault toilet
