What Guests Are Saying

Plaskett Creek Campground offers a beautiful, peaceful setting just a short walk from Sand Dollar Beach, making it a great spot for camping. Many visitors praised the friendly camp hosts and the spacious, scenic environment, ideal for families and pets. However, the campground faces criticism due to the lack of potable water and restroom facilities, with porta potties being the only option, which some found unsatisfactory.

PROS: Shade, lots of space, fields for the kiddos to run and play, no poison oak spotted, friendly host, everyone respected rules
CONS: Toilets have been closed for years apparently - port-a-potties were fine, but don't come expecting nice toilets and showers. No water, like at all. For any purpose really. Yet they haven't cut the line so some people still use it? It feels like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Scenic views in every direction provides for a beautiful retreat at Plaskett Creek Campground.
The drive to the campsite is worth the trip alone, and the greatest benefit is the beach being across the street from the campground. My family loved it, our pet dog was the happiest we've ever seen him. The campsite host was great, incredibly friendly and honestly really cool. Only issue is the lack of clean water on campsite but as long as you're prepared with clean drinking water it should be an easy and incredibly enjoyable camp.

The kirk creek one is definitely better with it being located on the beach side of the road; also, I think notifying people who plan on staying there that the water has been found non-potable and that there are porta potties instead of bathrooms is a small effort that could have been undertaken easily via email. I wish we would have known this before arriving as we had counted on at least being able to refill our drinkable water.

Nice peaceful and quiet. We were definitely the biggest RV there in a 30' Airstream. Most were tent campers. We just barely fit into site #6, disconnected the truck and had to park it at an angle. The camp host was welcoming and told us we could park the truck in overflow if needed.

We loved the campground. We loved the view of the hillside and you can see the ocean peaking out at some spots.
It is a short and easy walk down PCH, and down lots of stairs, to get to a beautiful beach. Yes, the walk back up all the stairs took some effort but our 7 year old did it without issue and our 3 year old did most of it on her own. Just be extra vigilant since there are no lifeguards at the beach and the Big Sur area is known for sneaker waves.
For the time being the campground does not have potable water and has port o potties. Plan to bring plenty of drinking water.
This campground is in lower Big Sur. We enjoyed our stay and the camp hosts were great!

Definitely not worth the $ - camp spot was cramped right up against our neighbor and there was barely room for our tent. The campground only had port-a-potties and no potable water. Paying $55 for a site, I'd definitely expect at least basic amenities. The camp hosts were friendly, though!

Sand Dollar Beach is just across the street from Plasket Creek and is a beautiful place for surfing, stand up paddle boarding and relaxing on the beach. While the faucets in camp had running water, the water is stated to be 'non potable' so bring your own water. Campground is well managed and staff are very helpful.
