What Guests Are Saying

Plaskett Creek Campground offers a beautiful, peaceful setting just a short walk from Sand Dollar Beach, making it a great spot for camping. Many visitors praised the friendly camp hosts and the spacious, scenic environment, ideal for families and pets. However, the campground faces criticism due to the lack of potable water and restroom facilities, with porta potties being the only option, which some found unsatisfactory.

The most clean and friendly campground I've ever stayed. Felt comfortable and safe the whole time. Being close to San Dollar beach made it easy to hike around the bluffs overlooking the beach and get totally refreshed by the sea breeze.
Night temperatures never being too cold, along with the sound of waves breaking on the beach made for a great night sleep.
A few good hiking trails nearby, Plaskett Creek Rd is a good hike for view, Salmon Creek and Cone Peak are other nearby
hiking trails completely worth the climbing effort.

This is a beautiful campground along the fabulous Pacific Coast Highway. It was a real Deja Vu for me to come back to this campground. In 1985 while a state forester, my wildland fire crew got called out to Gorda, California and Plaskett Creek got turned into a small city of a fire camp with over 2,000 firefighters staying there. half of what was burning was poison oak and over half of us came down with horrible systemic reactions (imagine that you desperately want to itch your lungs but you just can't get there. , but a doc came down from Monterey and blasted us with steroids , then we could get back on the fireline

We love Plaskett, but the maintenance of the facilities has slipped. All of the restrooms were closed (at least the port-a-potties were clean). There is still no potable water in the faucets (what gives?). We were lucky that we brought enough drinking water. The drains under the faucets were all clogged, creating a quagmire you had to reach over to get water.
In spite of the draught, campfires were allowed. This would have been acceptable, except our neighbors built a HUGE bonfire with 10-foot+ flames coming close to tree branches. They ignored our concerns, and there was no one with authority present to monitor the situation. Finally, the reservation by internet system is a mess. Many sites are empty, but unavailable. I tried to cancel the last night of my reservation so someone else could use the site, but was unable to. The camp host could only tell me to go on-line, but there is no reception at Plaskett. So I paid for a site I could not use, and no one else could, either.
