The sites are large and offer a decent amount of shade. We had site 11 which was nice and flat for two tents. Access to the water is pretty easy from the campground and there were several trails to explore the forest and shoreline.

The campground was beautiful and we had a great time! My only issue is that there are no bear boxes and we did have bears in the campground 2 of the 3 nights we were there. Other than that it was great! Restrooms were nice and clean and water flush toilets. Close to the water. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Spacious campsites in the trees, clean bathrooms, quiet. Lake access is via trails. The boat dock area is on the far side of Grasshopper Campground. The campground has bear warnings, but no bear boxes, so food, including coolers must be kept inside a vehicle. Loved camping here .

Highway access
Grizzly Campground is accessible via Highway 395, approximately 15 miles to the east, and Highway 70, which connects to Portola.
Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- Check-in is at 2:00 PM, and check-out is at noon.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Vehicles & parking
- Campsites can accommodate 2 vehicles, with the first included in the site fee and a fee for the second vehicle collected onsite.
- Off-road vehicles are prohibited on facility roads, and violations may result in citations.
Site types & loops
- Certain sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Wildlife & food storage
- Be aware of bear safety before arriving, as black bears frequent the area and food lockers are not available.
Safety & rules
- Strong winds can create hazardous conditions on the lake for small craft.
Utilities
- Water skiing and jet skiing are prohibited on the lake.
