What Guests Are Saying

Robinson Creek South is praised for its beautiful scenery, clean facilities, and friendly camp hosts. Campers enjoyed good fishing and proximity to Twin Lakes, with many noting the peaceful atmosphere and well-maintained sites. While some experienced issues with noise from generators and the lack of potable water, overall, visitors had a fantastic time and expressed a strong desire to return.

The mono county fire Marshall shut down any campfires in the campground. One of the pleasures of camping is to have the campfire. I think Recreation.Gov should have notified their customers before their visit. We also had a problem with barking dogs in the campground next to us number 23. They had 3 dogs and the ones behind us had 3 dogs. They constantly barked leaving us to cut our trip short. I never saw the host even confront them. Limits on dogs in campsitesshould be Enforced.

Great host in Mike; great spots with plenty of distance between each and very beautiful country. Normally good fishing in Robinson Creek but this year not so due to hatcheries shut down. Several lakes close for fishing also. Spend a day checking out the ghost town of Bodie or get off the main drag and take a dirt road trip to the end of Green Creek Rd to see great country. The Virginia Lakes are very nice as well, crystal clear and at altitude of 9734 ft!! Lots of families enjoying the campground but unfortunately we had one weekend where in tent site 10 across from us there were 4 young couples drinking, talking loud with “F-Bombs” and playing music way too loud lacking respect for all the rest of the folks in the campground. Would we recommend and go again? Absolutely but for us probably closer to Sept when school is going on!

As of August 7, NO CAMPFIRES ALLOWED in ALL National Forest areas. This is understandable. However in the past, I have been alerted of road conditions, closures, Covid-19 warnings via Recreation.gov's email prior to my stay. TWICE this year, Recreation.gov has neglected to notified those of us with reservations that CAMPFIRES are prohibited. Of course on my recent trip, beginning August 11, had I been informed of this, my food/cooking would have been completely different. In an adjacent campsite, I observed a little girl crying because they couldn't have a campfire for s'mores, which had been promised by her parents. Way to ruin a vacation. This information could have easily been included in the "Reservation Reminder" email.

Our yearly family tradition in Bridgeport, CA (Robinson's Creek) every August never disappoints. This August of 2020 despite the pandemic affecting the world, our family was able to get away and enjoy a beautiful week in the mountains. This is exactly what the family needed and we were all looking forward to this getaway. It felt like we had a bit of normalcy while we were at Robinson's Creek. The kids enjoyed playing hide and seek in the woods, fishing, (although the fishing was not what it has been in the past), playing darts, swimming in the creek. We were able to get a bear sighting on our bear cam, whom came and ate our citronella candle. It was a beautiful time and the lake and forest is as beautiful and amazing as ever. We are looking forward to getting back next year. August 2021 can't come soon enough! Highly recommend Robinson's Creek for a quiet, relaxing time away from all the daily routines in ones life! Bridgeport rocks!

Beautiful setting and campground. Asphalt and transitions are showing years of erosion. Otherwise it’s as good as they get.
