Campground could use some signage to help locate it. My phone died, so no gps. Only had a sign at entrance. Luckily I stopped a truck asked directions and they had just driven past the campground.

The site and campground were fantastic. The lake is absolutely beautiful. I wish we had planned for more time there to hike around. It was high up so pretty cold at night but it’s expected in September. It was also super windy but I don’t know if that’s typical.

If you're looking for a small, quiet, remote-feel campground without actually being remote, check out Trumbull Lake. Nothing fancy but (fairly) well maintained (roads could use some improvement) and right next to Trumbull Lake. Also, Virginia Lakes are less than a 1/4 mi and there is a resort with cabins, small store, and cafe if you want to have an easy meal. Fully shaded campground and be aware of the high elevation and chilly temps.

The bathrooms were amazingly clean all the time. Everyone in the campground was quiet and respectful at night. And I appreciated that the camp host provided a gallon jug filled with water for the fire pit when we got there.
All of the lakes close by are a bonus as well ;-)

Campsites are rather close together and I think the maximum RV lengths need to be taken with a large chunk of salt. I was in #14 which has a maximum length of 26 ft and my 18 ft truck was nearly in the next campsite and squeezed between trees. Nevertheless I love the access to lakes and hiking and other campers were friendly and respectful. I will go back.

Quiet, older campground in the forest. Camp spots intentionally kept well back from the lake, which is smart. Cleanest bathroom ever! A lot of the camp spots aren't level any more, as is sometimes the case with older campgrounds, but otherwise great!

Nice appearing campground and the campsite has plenty of shade. Unfortunately an RV that was close by ran a loud generator constantly. Another camper and I had to yell at them to turn off the generator after 10 pm. Other campers were noisy until midnight or so.
It was a disappointing experience and I left two days early.
