Almanor

Should’ve been called Camp Kindling. I don’t know whose bright idea it was to pour sticks and cuttings, not mulch actual huge sticks and branches, over the entire campground but it was a choice. We didn’t stay because there was nowhere to pitch a tent and frankly I was concerned about the fire hazard. Absolutely boneheaded decision by whomever is managing that campground.

The campsite location was in a really good spot but all the trees at Campsite 13 were cut down so the picture on the site needs to be updated. We ended up moving to a first come first serve campsite in another part of the campground which was much nicer and had more shade.

Was a nice campsite. Wpuld have preferred to be closer tk the lake. This site was in the middle of a vault toilet and flush toilets. Bith bathrooms were clean well kept. There was random super loud music that started at almost midnight but stopped after 30 min. Overall it was quite and peaceful.

There seemed like renovation of the campground was on going. There needs to be cleaning up of down trees. They are everywhere at a lot sites. The lake looks beautiful but there is no real beach for swimming as there are large rocks along the shoreline.

Sites in the middle of a fire area look like slash piles that are poorly cleaned. This campground should be closed until they clean or burn the slash. Dust is 1 inch deep in the areas where slash isnt on the ground. It was so poor I left and found another site; waste of money.

Maybe ATV trail could be rerouted by National Forest? Most riders were considerate, but a few were not, revving their engine and accelerating as they drove by at any hour of the night. Would be a huge upgrade to have a flushing bathroom with running water. Trash cans got full during our stay and nobody came to empty. Found multiple nails in areas around the campsite where vehicles drive, cleanup crew needs to use magnets. The water pump does not work well if at all. Had to go across street to dump station for potable water.

Unfortunately this campground is still in brush clearing recovery stage with giant piles of debris all around. The site we reserved was a dust pit and looked nothing like the picture on rec.gov. I'm sure this was a very nice place before the fires but its not ready for any long term stay at this time. We didn't stay and ended up going to another campground, fortunately they did refund my money less the reservation fee. REC.GOV UPDATE YOUR PICTURES!

This campground is in complete disarray after cutting down trees, there is slash everywhere and limited shade. They need to come back and cleanup all the slash that is everywhere, but it appears they think they are done. I would not recommend staying here until additional work is done to clean up the mess. What a shame, such a great location.

It was a good trip but the campsites weren’t remodeled yet. Loggers came through there and left it a wreck. The pictures on line need to be updated. Other than that it was beautiful and the lake was awesome. Only down fall about the lake was the dead fish all over. Had to go to east shore to swim

This camp site is the worst I have ever been to and I’ve been camping my whole life. So poorly maintained. It is falling apart. So poor we had to move spots cause it could not fit our trailer. Online said it would fit, so false advertising. We had to pay for a completely different site, no transferring the money to a different site. What a scam! It’s a horrible fire hazard. Dead tree limbs everywhere in the campsites so they are not usable unless you move it yourself. Definitely get an F from me.
