What Guests Are Saying
The site offers ample space for trailers, tents, RVs, and boats, featuring a large fire pit and numerous picnic tables. While it's located near a highway and a recreation road that can cause dust issues, the overall experience was positive with well-maintained facilities, including daily trash collection. Visitors are likely to return, especially when roadwork is not ongoing.

Wonderful. Quiet and peaceful. Not on top of your neighbors. In fact, we were one of the few only campers.
Camp host was very helpful and knowledgeable

your camp host was always complaining about something---we had family members come by for dinner--they parked in site next to us that said reserved--but no one ever showed up all weekend---we advised host we would move if any showed up---he said if you want to park there you will have to pay !!---it was already been paid for---cpomplaining if truck was sticking out---there is no overflow parking---he just seemed to be i am in charge and dont you forget it------made weekend not very relaxing---not sure if will be back if he is still camp host----other campers said same thing.

The fishing was awful at the lake, nearby Butt lake, and the hamilton tributary, so the 5 stars reflects the awesomeness of the campground. We went mon- thu and the campground was not crowded and quiet. Our site was big ( most were ) and spaced out. No bears (or bear boxes), but many chipmunks. Our spot, #13 was flat, located near the restrooms, but not too close. There was drinking water available, but they ask you to bring your water for washing with you. Very clean campground, the camp host was very pleasant, it was absolutely gorgeous to stroll around. There are lots of open meadows in the campground, so it would be great if you brought kids because they could run around safely away from the cars. It rained one night we were there , so if you come bring a tarp for your tent. It was also freezing at night, so I suggest bringing a robe if you are a nighttime restroom user. The boat ramp was about a 3 minute drive from the campground and it is free to park there and launch. The nearby tackle shop was great, the owner helpful, tons of inventory and information.
Hope you catch more fish than we did!!!!

Campground was very quiet and also very spacious. Went during the week after Memorial Day. Only a few people in the campground so it was nice. Fished the tributaries to the lake and we rented a boat just down the road. We had a good time. I would go again.

Great campground. Stayed here several times. Middle of the week so it was quiet and relaxing. Weekends can be less quiet. We stayed on the reservation side of the campground which was easy to book online. No views of the lake, but an easy stroll away. Our camp site was close to the main bathroom which was maintained and reasonably clean making it easier on everybody especially the kids. We like that it offers larger sites with adequate parking space. Close to local restaurants and stores. Carol’s for breakfast. Plumes Pines for lunch or dinner. Majors Outpost for a boat or watercraft rental. All just around the corner. Look forward to staying here each year.

Almanor was clean and the bathrooms were well kept. The lake was fun! I like all of the information on the billboards. Not too far from town for last minute accommodations.
