What Guests Are Saying
Dogwood campground is highly praised for its beautiful and peaceful setting, well-kept facilities, and friendly hosts. Visitors appreciate the clean restrooms, hot showers, and spacious campsites, making it ideal for families and first-time campers. While some sites may be uneven and noise from other campers can be an issue, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many planning to return.

Love the campground. Wish we could have stayed longer, but reservations are hard to get. Wish they used a lottery system

Dogwood was one of the cleanest and most beautiful campgrounds Iβve ever been too and my family and I have been a lot. This is my new go to places. I love, love Dogwood. It is close to everything.

The campground itself is quite beautiful, with plenty of trees & natural surroundings that make for a peaceful setting. The highlight of our stay was actually the check-in processβstaff were extremely friendly & informative. The woman who helped us was very thorough in going over park rules & even gave us a heads-up about a bear sighting earlier that morning. That level of service was genuinely appreciated. That said, my overall experience was disappointing, and here's why:
Site #41 - This site was a major letdown. Itβs on a noticeable slope, which made pitching three tents extremely difficult & uncomfortable. I had called days in advance specifically to ask whether the site was level enough for tents & was assured that it was. That clearly wasnβt the case. Parking was also inconvenientβyou have to park your car and then walk down a narrow path to reach the actual site. Another big issue was the noise: we could hear cars passing from the nearby road, including the constant honking of big rig truck horns. This really took away from the "getaway in nature" experience. On the plus side, the site did offer a good amount of privacy.
Bathrooms - The nearest bathroom was quite far from our site. The condition of the facilities left a lot to be desiredβthere were toilet papers on the floor, a strong odor, no lighting inside the stalls, and an overall lack of cleanliness. The walk back to the site is uphill, which could be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues.
Noise - Our immediate area was quiet for most of the night. One nearby site did get a bit loud after 10 p.m., but it didnβt last long. The real issue was another site we passed on the way to the bathroomβthey had extremely loud music, what sounded like a DJ, & a large group of people. It was more of a party than a camping experience. While Iβm thankful they werenβt right next to us, it felt inconsiderate and disruptive to the overall environment.

What a quiet, beautiful campground. Clean bathrooms and Very friendly caretakers. They did say there are bears and provide bear safe food storage bins. We saw a bobcat on one of our hikes and enjoyed a day at Lake Gregory.

I was impressed with the maintenance and cleanliness of this campground. Even though campsites are close together, they are large and are situated in a way that makes you feel secluded. The Camp Hosts are very friendly and take pride in maintaining the grounds. There is a great trail for hiking or running that starts and ends on the grounds. When the campsite descriptions says to bring levelers for an RV, bring levelers! You will need them.
