My first time camping in years & this place was so lovely & made everything so easy! When arriving at the site, our lot was impeccable - clean & raked & ready for us! They really had everything you need, tables, fire pit, bear boxes, nearby bathrooms with showers, great shade from the trees & trails built into the campground! They also conveniently sold firewood at the ranger station when checking in, so it was easy to run back & get some whenever we needed. The camp hosts were always on top of it & so kind to speak with. All very nice & helpful. & you can’t beat the location, tucked away in the mountains of lake arrowhead & just a quick 5 min drive into town should you want to go out to eat, etc. We had a lovely stay & can’t wait to go back!

Campsite was absolutely gorgeous, very peaceful and each spot was very spacious and private. Everything was well maintained, and well labeled. The trails around the campsite were also very nice and well maintained

Kind of a strange weekend at Dogwood. But I would stay there again, based on the limited experience.
*Pros:* stayed in site 77, massive campsite (you could have put 4-5 tents up easily) which would be good for families. Staff seems friendly and I observed them several times cleaning and stocking the bathrooms. Nice access to some forested trails for hiking or mountain biking. Reasonably quiet. When the campground was closed suddenly in an emergency, they provided a prompt, automated refund quickly without asking. Very close to Blue Jay or Arrowhead by car in case you need to pickup food or camping essentials. Plenty of shade, nice fire pit, picnic table. There are (limited) showers so you can clean up after a day of swimming or hiking.
*Cons:* The entire campground was closed suddenly due to "bear activity" and all the campers ejected. This seemed odd to me, given the entire area is bear country, there are bear lockers to use, and so on. It was not a huge deal for me because I was just 45 minutes from home, but I felt really bad for people who had traveled further to suddenly have their vacation cut short. It's impossible to get a replacement campsite on a summer weekend...nowhere to go, I'd guess many simply packed up and went home. Note if you plan to sleep in car/trailer/pickup the parking spot on 77 is pretty far from being level, so you need a way to level the vehicle. Showers are free, but you have to hold down a button to get the water to come out (I'd rather just have coin-op showers where you insert a coin and it runs for a few minutes so you can get an actual proper shower)
The sudden closure seemed like a fluke, so I'd stay there again.

I have been visiting this camp site many times and it is my favorite
I stayed one night this time. I did not make reservation and arrived at the gate late in the morning (first come first serve). Many sites were available, but a young man also charged for reservation fee.
I disagreed, but the young man (new employee) said I had to pay for reservation fee, so I paid.
I did not understand why I had to pay for the reservation fee even if I was walk in (FF).

We’ve been camping at Dogwood for over a decade with our growing family and it’s been great every single time. The hosts are kind, helpful and welcoming. The bathrooms are always super clean. Most of the other campers have been very respectful of their neighbors and noise levels have always been decent. Will definitely keep coming back ❤️
