What Guests Are Saying
Panther Flat Campground is a well-maintained and clean facility, featuring hot coin showers, flushing toilets, and spacious campsites that provide good privacy. Campers appreciate the friendly hosts and the beautiful natural surroundings, including access to the nearby Smith River and hiking trails. While it can get busy in the summer and occasional noise from other campers or road traffic is noted, many visitors still find it a pleasant and enjoyable camping experience overall.

The campground itself was fine, but if you want to stay somewhere that takes Covid safety seriously, this is not the place. When I checked in, not only was the host not wearing a mask or social distancing, he laughed at and mocked me for wearing a mask when speaking to him. There was also no soap at the bathroom sinks, so bring some of your own or at least some hand sanitizer.

I loved the trees at the campsites and the campsites were huge and clean. The host was very helpful and pleasant. The waterfall and the lagoon on the river was spectacular sight.

I love this place! Great sites with plenty of space between them. Great swimming hole too! Unfortunately, everybody in town drives down to it so it’s hard to get a spot, especially during Covid. I want to give it five stars, but decided on four because of the hosts. When we came and stayed for nine days earlier in the summer they were super nice and helpful. I’m sure tons of visitors, and possibly ones fighting for spots, made them not so happy at the end of the season. Either way, I like how friendly and warm they were at the beginning of the season.

Can I give it zero stars? When I got there my host had given away the campsite I had paid for for 3 NIGHTS! And I had nowhere to take my kids in the middle of a pandemic after driving 700 miles. He refused to make the site available to us and he refused to refund my payment.

This campground has so much going for it. Especially for people with kids. Makes it easy with flush toilets and showers. Also they have weekend outdoor movies which is such a nice effort on the part of the hosts. The sites are large with lots of vegetation between them for privacy. We have been going there for years. This time was a little different from the past in that the bathrooms were not that clean more of the time. But I really think that is due to how much more busy and full the campground is this year due to more people going camping during COVID restrictions. We have gone several times this summer and it is much more full. This time too there were instances of people partying and playing loud music really late at night which hasn’t really been a problem in past years. The river spot near the campground also has been overcrowded compared to other years. But we just drive to other bigger river spots where there is more space. This summer the walk up spaces were pretty much nonexistent so reservations were crucial. We love this campground.

We really liked this campground, but unfortunately there was a large group right next to us and they were playing obnoxious loud music all day and well into the night. They also had dogs barking through the night. Luckily we were only staying here one night, otherwise we would have been very upset with all the noise. Other than that, the campground was lovely and facilities were clean and accessible. Also, fairly close to the main highway and we heard cars and trucks driving through the night.

Great campground near the river. Lady in the next campsite yelled at us twice, though, for our kids being loud - it was mid-day and the kids were being kids .... anyway, generally the spaces are spread out but one bad apple spoiled the bunch for us a bit here. Would camp here again.
If you go to the swimming holes on the river, go to the downstream one, and look by the waterfall for some ~3 foot tall pitcher plants. It is super cool. You'll have to swim or paddle to the side to see them, but it was a highlight of the time at the river.

We love this campground - it is a very short walk to the River & there are pools that are safe for kids & dogs to swim in. The campground itself is very clean, shaded & spacious.

We loved the swimming spots! The water was so refreshing and the jumping rocks were fun. We visited Stout Grove while we were camping, must see!

Great place to camp with clean bathrooms and showers. Avoid site 18 if you can not terrible but right next to the bathrooms and people often cut through
