What Guests Are Saying

Panther Flat Campground is a well-maintained and clean facility, featuring hot coin showers, flushing toilets, and spacious campsites that provide good privacy. Campers appreciate the friendly hosts and the beautiful natural surroundings, including access to the nearby Smith River and hiking trails. While it can get busy in the summer and occasional noise from other campers or road traffic is noted, many visitors still find it a pleasant and enjoyable camping experience overall.

Very close to everything in the Redwoods/Crescent City area. Nice swimming holes and very attentive hosts. I hope to be back!

Beautiful campsites. My husband and I stayed with our pup for a night. We had a site closer to the river side with easy access to the short path down to the river. It was lovely to hear the river at night. Only complaint is that these campsites are really close to the through road in the campground and there isn't much privacy since cars and the host pass by frequently. Also quite a few kids just running past and biking past the campsites which to be honest, is rude and annoying. Would camp here again but in the off season.

Had a great site right with a short walk to the river. The river is wide and open to enjoy some swimming and sun. So refreshing. The campground was well taken care of and clean. Will definitely go back. Site 16

Really nice, shady campground. Sites are big and private, bathrooms were SUPER clean. Coin-op showers and movies projected on a big screen by the bathrooms on Fri and Sat nights. Fun little hike down to the river, too. The nearest town (Gasquet) has a small grocery, but expect mostly canned/dry goods and no produce.

This is a cool little campground. Most of the sites have good privacy. The bathrooms are clean, and the showers were too. You can walk down to the Smith River here, but there is only one 'pool' and a very small sandy beach that gets extremely crowded. You are better off driving someplace to the river where you have more room to spread out, and where you can tube down the river. Also, there are snakes in the small pool area. Some say they will bite, others say not. If snakes swimming in water bother you, then for sure drive someplace else to enjoy the river. I would recommend this campground for those who want a quieter camping experience.

Great campground, great little swimming hole, clean bathrooms and showers;). Quite a bit or road noise, and had a bad experience with a camp neighbor running a generator ALL day and night. Other than that, it’s awesome!

The campground is really well placed, with the river access a huge highlight of our trip. Everything was generally very clean and well kept. Ironically, this makes this campsite and day-use area very popular. It was pretty noisy with children and barking dogs throughout the day until pretty late in the evening, and on the second night of our three night stay a large group composed of about 5 separate sites came in for a loud party right next to ours, playing music and shouting until about 1 am. The foliage is not that thick so there was little privacy or noise blocked by the trees. While not really a fault of the campsite, it is something to be aware of. For us, we ended up leaving a day early due to the experience.
