What Guests Are Saying
Lake Sonoma offers a beautiful camping experience with scenic views, ample space for tents, and access to water activities, making it ideal for boat-in camping. Many sites provide a mix of sun and shade, though some may require maintenance and cleaning. While issues with trash and yellow jackets have been reported, overall visitors appreciate the tranquility, solitude, and opportunity to connect with nature.

Excellent place for boat-in camping. Loggers Camp was great. Be aware no trailers allowed at the Yorty creek entrance.

At these sites RS 1&2 just know that you are hiking to the other sites for the hot box toilets. It would be nice if they could put one more convenient to these sites.

My campsite was some how double booked. Booked two sites to not have neighbors but ended up sharing the area with another family

We love Lake Sonoma but the army corps is not taking care of the camp sites.
They did not collect the trash. I had to yell at them to get action
Trash was all over several campsites.
The toilets were not serviced and they were in severe disrepair.
They did not enforce any kind of camp quiet time. We had a party going until well after midnight one evening with loud music.
They are not managing the lake. We had several nights with wake surfers on the water after dark with speakers blaring.

Lake Sonoma was lovely. It was our first time camping at Lake Sonoma, so we were going in blind. The site we reserved had a very small tent pad, and had a very steep drop to the side. We made it work, and actually ended up really enjoying it because we were able to watch some unusual bird activity one morning right from our tent - about 30 woodpeckers and other birds feeding on an insect hatch.
We originally thought we would pitch two tents, but when we realized how small the tent pad was we had to go back to the launch (where there is cell service) and reserve a second camp site. Lesson learned, but none the less we really enjoyed our stay.

It is a great campground but there was a lot of trash all over the campground that we had to clean up.

Beautiful lake and short boat in ride. I went after 4th of July and the grounds were full of trash and the bathrooms were very dirty. I’m guessing if you go when there hasn’t been a holiday it would be better kept.

This was an unusual solo experience. The shoreline campsites of Lake Sonoma are familiar to me, but I know them from mountain biking the Lake Sonoma trail system.
The campsites here are next to the shire and have flat tent sites on them with a fire pit and metal picnic tables
The pit toilet was cleaned and had plenty of paper.
The thing that is not nice about Lake Sonoma during high season are the power boaters who seemingly drunkenly ply the waters with every variety of music at the. Loudest Possible VOLUME!
This didn't stop until past 9pm on the water and about 10:30 from the next campsite over (who came in with two boats).
After that it was wonderful.
Also there was a lot of trash in the campsite due to previous bad campers and evidence of drunken activities.
