What Guests Are Saying
Lake Sonoma offers a beautiful camping experience with scenic views, ample space for tents, and access to water activities, making it ideal for boat-in camping. Many sites provide a mix of sun and shade, though some may require maintenance and cleaning. While issues with trash and yellow jackets have been reported, overall visitors appreciate the tranquility, solitude, and opportunity to connect with nature.

Love this spot! Madrone 4-5-6 are perfect as it has coverage. 1-2-3 are not covered at all so I'd priority 4-5-6.
It's like 50 yard hike up a hill but totally doable, just took some time/muscle to get all our gear off the boat and up to sites. But great because it has two long benches connected so we could eat together.
Decent flat areas for tent setup and the bathroom was uphill away from all the sights which was nice.
A night little spot to jump off into the water as well.
I'd recommend!

I lost my grandmothers WW2 wedding band while swimming near to SK01 site. It’s a rose gold thick band. Please if you find it, we’ll talk reward. (Ana . Maynich @ gmail) this ring means a world to me. Also, this is one of my favorite boat in sites! Highly recommend it.

We’ve camped two spots in the last month and had to kick people out of our site each time. We get there after work on Friday and want to set up and chill and have to wait for people to tear down and move. Plus, it’s very awkward. Also, this last visit, the toilets were full. Otherwise, it was peaceful.

The Troop had a great camp out and will plan to go back again in the fall. Thank you.

Campsites were very clean, well stocked, and had a nice mix of shade and open sky.

So beautiful! I was in Lone Pine 04 with a few friends and there was a good place to dock your boat, a fire pit and chemical toilets. The stars were beautiful and the steam coming off of the lake in the morning was serene! I would be aware that there were a lot of yellow jackets all over the site which led to us spending a lot of time on the water during the day.

Had an amazing time. Definitely wish people cleaned up all their bits of trash better. Even found a trash bin inside the lake, perhaps only recently recoverable due to winter rains though. All in all super beautiful, lots of birds, and I'd return! Love having a section of the lake without motorized vehicles.

The campsite was really beautiful but within 10 minutes of being there we saw multiple ticks crawling on us, the tables, and the ground. We decided not to camp there. When we got home I brushed many ticks out of our dogs fur and found dead ticks in our beds and on my niece the next day.

Site was not ready to open. Table was still in the lake. We were able to move it ashore.
Trash can was near full.
Toilet did have adequate TP.

We enjoy camping at the Bummer Peak camp, there are only two sites, it's about an hour to hike in, there's no water so you have to carry it in. But it's peaceful, has great views, and you can hike 600' down to the lake for a swim. The campsites have a table, fire ring, and a lantern/food hanging pole. Hang your food as there are sometimes raccoons. There are also potties, and garbage cans. It's a short drive for us, and a short easy hike in, but the best thing is we usually have the place to ourselves.
