A beautiful spot to camp and play in the water.

This location is awesome, I love it. The camp site was great, the location is beautiful, I love it.

However, I do not like recreation.gov. I wish I could call and book with the parks directly. I hate this outsourcing/privatization/third-party or whatever this is

Wonderful natural setting and close access to a river that is fun to swim in. However, the guests around us were very loud, having loud parties with 5+ cars in group campsites and partying until midnight when the quiet time was starting at 10pm. We asked the hosts multiple times, they tried but weren't very effective, and so we eventually just got used to it. But we'll not come to that area of the campsite next time. Also, they have very permissive rules regarding extra cars (+$15 per car or something like that). So, as a result, it's become a party location. Unless the rules become more strict and/or the hosts more strictly enforce them, this was not a family-friend campsite because of all the noise and disruption. (We camped in the upper area with a larger loop and more campsites).

Camp hosts nanny people and talk to them like kids. I appreciate them taking there jobs seriously but they need to learn some communication skills.

We also appreciated our camp hosts and all the work they do. One of the things that bothers us the most when camping is people crossing through our camp ground, and so I appreciated how our host where really good about enforcing communal rules and being available when help was needed.

Arroyo Seco is a lovely area and worth visiting and protecting. In fact, we visit Arroyo Seco in September annually and conduct a cleanup of the river and the day use area. However, this year the camp hosts were particularly unpleasant, uptight, and rigid. The camp hosts were a younger couple who made it a point of obsessively enforcing the rules and speaking to us rudely. It appeared that they forgot about customer service and about making all campers feel welcome. One evening, while relaxing around our campfire after dinner, the female camp host entered our campsite and demanded that I speak with her privately for some unknown reason, thus interrupting an otherwise pleasant evening. Arroyo Seco would be better served without these particular camp hosts. In fact, if they are present next year, we may very well cancel our annual river cleanup.

Very beautiful place and nice campground. BUT--so many bugs! Yikes! Also, even though I had a paid campsite, I was given a parking ticket while visiting the creek. There's the other problem---the water bank was so over-populated it was almost impossible to find a spot to sit. I can only imagine how many "potty breaks" all those kids were taking in the creek. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful day sitting on a riverbank, this is not the place. I will say that my 1st two days, Wednesday and Thursday, were much more enjoyable, before the weekenders showed up. Maybe we retirement-aged folk should look elsewhere. :))

The facility had implemented a "no campfire" rule and we were not informed prior to arrival with Boy Scouts who intended on using the fire rings for their outing. Nothing was posted on Recreation.gov even on the day of the reservation either. Request for a refund was refused by the venue as-well. This was a poor experience with both Arroyo Seco and Recreation.gov.
