Arroyo Seco

We love Arroyo Seco campground. It is a hidden gem and we try to go at least once a year. We can tell that the funding has been greatly reduced and it is quite sad.

The status of the restrooms was most unfortunate. I see now that the website has benen updated to reflect that they are using porta potties, but it would've been nice to know prior to our trip. A few other campers left early because the porta pottie were “full.”. Also having ice available can be a tall order. However, ice has been available for many years so most of us that frequent regularly rely on that ice. Especially when you consider stores are quite far away from the campground.

We want to visit this campground for years to come and hope that other guests can experience its wonder. We will still be back, however, we would just love to know the status of these basic necessities before making the trek out there.

We felt bad for the campground host having to explain and defend the neglected facilities. They were doing their best but folks were frustrated. Please don't take this review with ill intent, rather honest feedback to help keep it going and help manage guest expectations.

Really awesome campsite! Just a short walk to the water for a dip and easy access to trash cans/water spigots. Spot 20 has an incredible view but pretty overrun by wasps.

Our stay would’ve been 5 stars if it weren’t for the people next to us screaming and laughing until sunrise as well as dogs barking at the nothing all night.

Overall a great trip but could’ve been better if it weren’t a busy holiday weekend.

Arroyo seco is always a good time ! Only thing is some camp sites you only get 1 parking and the extra vehicles are parked in an overflow parking area which is fine but should be in the description of the campsite . And the bathrooms should be cleaned often since they’e portable potty’s they get dirtier faster !! Would recommend to bring your own shower! No showers available as well

When we got there none of the bathrooms or showers were working… we were camping there for 4 days and had to figure it out. Also no ice was being sold

All the plumbing was down, no showers and no restrooms. All campers in all camp sites had to use portable toilets. The toilets were loud because of the spring doors slamming all night long and were almost filled to the top with waste. The park service did send a email two days before letting you know about plumbing but just to get a reservation you have to plan months in advance. We made the best of it but it doesn't seem fair to have the amenities posted on the website when you book but not have them when you show up.

We love coming to Arroyo Seco, but the bathrooms and showers are still not fixed after many years. I feel a discount for not having them working would be nice. The porta-potties were clean and the camp hosts were very gracious to give them a freshening up daily.

Prior to going to Arroyo Seco camp site, I received an email about the closure of the campsite bathrooms due to septic problems. It did state that there would be porta-potties available. My family and I were like ok we can deal with that, not a big problem. During our stay, the porta-potties were horrid. The inside of the toilets were stacked with feces the whole time we stayed. Ourselves and other campers asked the Hosts of the campgrounds if they could get this situation handled but there was no progress. It seemed like they were just there for a paycheck. On the lighter side, the area for swimming in the river had bathrooms that were very clean and well maintained (kudos to those workers). My family agrees that we will not be going back to that place for a very long time if not at all.

No working bathrooms, super bright lights shinning from the not working bathrooms all night long. Rude, loud, aggressive, drunks going in checked at the river wasn’t very family friendly. And note that even though the campsite comes with 2 vehicles and you report both vehicles in your reservation you still have to pay extra cash when you get there for one of the cars.

The GoodGreat shade: The campsites offer excellent shade coverage.Perfect location: The campground sits incredibly close to the river.The BadRude hosts: The staff seemed constantly irritated whenever we asked simple questions.Disgusting restrooms: The main bathrooms and showers were completely closed.Filthy port-a-potties: We were forced to use portable toilets that were never cleaned.Poor holiday management: The waste piled higher each day over the busy Juneteenth holiday weekend. Management absolutely should have hired a company to pump them out.
