Arroyo Seco

We stayed at Campground for a long weekend, and overall it was a great experience. The campground is set in a beautiful forested area with plenty of shade, and it’s close to several hiking trails and a small lake.

Pretty busy/noisy camp area (to be expected on a weekend) but site 29 was nice because it’s at the very edge and is very spacious with good tree shade. I don’t know why it’s called a “walk-up” site because it most definitely has a parking spot. Very easy walking distance to either the river day area or the main hiking trails. Several of the bathrooms/showers were out of order, and we didn’t know that the showers were coin-operated so that was a bit annoying. Red ants, yellow jackets and angry gnats were in full force (and a few mosquitos) so bring repellant. Several deer crossed through the site. The nearby primitive camp area is definitely quieter and more chill if you need that, but is a little further out from stuff distance-wise.

It's a good place to go camping with the family and has all the amenities. A beautiful place

Half of the bathrooms were out of order, which was not ideal. Some campsites were pretty much on top of others and noisy.

We love the nature around the camp, the species lot, the day use site.
We liked less the bathrooms, that I don't think were cleaned even once during our 2 nights stay, the lines to the bathrooms and showers were very very long, the showers were very old and need some renovation, the non working taps all over the camp. We were also asked to pay for parking at the day use area, which never happened to us in other campsites. The day use area was packed from 8 am.

camped here during 4th of july weekend with a family of 2 small children and 1 dog.

good amenities: coin-op showers, flushing toiles, port-a-potties, sinks outside the bathroom with hot and cold water, potable water.

within walking distance of arroyo seco river, which is a popular day-use area. it filled up first thing in the morning after opening on sunday though.

when i was here, one of the two restroom buildings was out of service and was replaced with port-a-potties. we had to use the other restroom building behind the campground host, which meant only 2 showers were available to campers. showers accept 6 quarters (which is 5 minutes) to start and then 1 additional quarter (which is 1 minute per quarter) to continue.

would have liked more privacy and campsites to be more spaced out or dispersed. campsites are so close together in that i can hear conversations from neighboring campers when in my tent. there was a campground host present to sell firewood, collect parking fees, exchange quarters for showers. they did not enforce the quiet hours.

Friday night had several groups up past midnight. I think one campsite had a karaoke party. Singing was okay, not great. Next campsite over used portable work light as a flashlight, definitely overkill for finding your way between the tent and campfire.

Facility itself was good. No matter what the Ice Box says, the camp host has NO ICE. Their firewood supply ran out while we were there.

Nice clean campgrounds, very spacious and flat spots for tents. The bathrooms were nice and clean, and the showers are great and cheap. Bring your quarters. The swimming hole is very nice, although you must pay to park down there, you can walk down. We love coming here.

This park has many features that make it worth driving to. My one bad experience was lack of curfew courtesy by a bunch of young women chattering till 1:30 in the morning.
