Beautiful mid-century cabins tucked underneath towering Redwoods and in between well-tended gardens. Each cabin is clean, private, well designed and has a quite comfortable bed. Amenities include a quaint indoor gathering space, outdoor heated pool, and outdoor fire pit and grill areas. The complimentary breakfast is light fare and opens fairly late (8:30a), so if you are an early riser you can take a short walk down the street to Coffee Bazaar for a cup of coffee. Loved our time here. We will be back.
On a side note, our host told us up until 5 years ago the resort was “clothing optional.” So, clearly we missed the window on that. Shucks. And it does make me curious what the atmosphere was like in Covid with naked people wandering around wearing masks.

We enjoyed staying at the Highlands Resort during the slower months. The resort has a great, isolated, in-the-forest feel, despite being in a city.
It was too cold and wet to use the pool or lay out in some sun, but the pool area looked great. We spent a lot of time on the center patio watching it rain around us in a forest.
We enjoyed a simple but delicious breakfast each morning of our stay. The fireplace heater worked great in our cabin. No complaints about our stays or the offered amenities. Excellent and friendly staff.
The location is very close to everything main street has to offer.
We will absolutely stay here again and look forward to what the summer has to offer.

We've traveled to many places, but Highlands resort stands out as a particularly special place to stay. The staff is kind and friendly, the rooms are beautifully appointed, and there is something so comforting about staying in a hotel that is for the lgbtq community. We cannot wait to come back again and again.

Had the best time at the Highlands Resort! Jessie was an amazing host, and really went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The grounds are beautiful, and so close to the town action while having a little space away from the main drag to make it a peaceful gem among the redwoods. Awesome swimming pool to relax, lovely breakfast, and clean, charming rooms. Highly recommend!
