What Guests Are Saying
Tree of Heaven Campground offers a clean and simple experience in a quiet, beautiful setting. While there was no host present and some confusion over site occupancy, overall guests enjoyed their stay and plan to return. It is a lovely option for those seeking a no-frills camping experience.

Just a beautiful example of what the national park service has to offer. The river was amazing and the deer visitors were a delight to share a drink on the river for us, almost on queue for breakfast.

The campground was okay, it happened to be 95 degrees with 1 "tree of heaven" for shade near our camp spot so we were glad for that.
Unfortunately next door campers come in very late and point their vehicles headlights right on our tent as we are sleeping while they setup a camp for 12....very annoying but certainly not a campground issue, just hoping morons like this read this and take note.

Interesting place, small and isolated but with great river access. This is NOT a July campground..it was VERY hot in the windless deep winding river canyon. If we go back it will be much earlier or later in the year. We enjoyed our time here, would recommend anyone going to be prepared to play in the river. Take a canoe, kayak or raft. We did not so we just sat in the river to get away from the July heat. Terrain is open with scattered trees and little brush except for thick riverbank blackberries, so don't expect isolated campsites. You will be saying hello to your neighbors.

Host was very nice but the campground is really tired! I wish fee retention were higher for the USFS.

The camp host does the very best job taking care of this isolated campground. Lots of rafting launches and a high number of one night road stop campers, but the vault toilets were always clean and the campground well-tended.

Wonderful visit to Tree of Heaven campground. The campground itself was well maintained and the restroom was clean and stocked with toilet paper. We went on the weekdays in mid June and it was very quiet. It seemed like everyone was asleep by 10pm. Really enjoyed walking on the self guided bird trail. Nice little swimming area to cool off as well. The River Trail is pretty nice but you can only walk it for about 15 mins before it gets to a point where it's overgrown. I'm not sure if this is always available but there were large fire logs available at no cost. You would need to bring an axe to get them into burnable size. Didn't see any ice for sale from the camp host but Yreka is not that far away if you're in a pinch. Trash and recycling bins available. I saw that they had bbq grills at each site, however a few, like the site we booked 019, were integrated into the fire ring and way to high to use charcoal briquets. The others we saw were free standing bbqs that charcoal would be no problem. There also is a highway above the campground and the semi's start around 6am and do engine brake so it got a little loud in the morning. Overall I would definitely recommend this campground for folks driving the I5 as an overnight or for people looking for a nice relaxing campground next to a river with water access, or rafters looking for a place to end their run as you can tie up in the swimming area/boat launch. Be advised that the river can get a little fast the farther you get from the shore so keep an eye on the kids.

I was at site 19 and there is no shade at all (super hot). The good thing is that you can swim in the klamath river (in the boat launch area) to cool off.
This campground is heaven for people like to do rafting. just launch the boat from camp and get picked up from other river accesses down the river.
There are a lot of black berry bushes for pick up as well.
