What Guests Are Saying
Kern River’s Edge Campground Retreat offers a beautiful setting with clean facilities, friendly staff, and convenient amenities like hot showers and on-site deliveries of firewood and ice. The campground is well-maintained, spacious, and close to the river, providing a fun and relaxing atmosphere for tent camping. However, it may not be ideal for larger travel trailers, and some guests noted a need for improved supervision of the grounds to enhance safety and the overall vacation experience.

The facility is beautiful, bathrooms are great, the river is near by, the limited interaction i had with the staff was pleasant. Great place to tent camp..... I however did not tent camp and getting up there with my travel trailer on highway 178 was sketchy to say the least. The camp grounds are not well suited for larger travel trailers. Getting in and out of this place with a travel trailer is not ideal. I would totally go back and tent camp but never again with a travel trailer.

Definitely can use trash cans. There are NONE anywhere, not even in the bathrooms, just some dumpsters in designated "Trash Areas".
Staff was very nice, but did give a feeling to campers of being supervised, not a good vibe while on vacation.
Checking out is a little stressful. Even though they are very friendly, workers & owners constantly monitoring your breakdown, packing up process & inspect the condition of your site a few hours BEFORE checkout time even hits, so it takes the "Vacation Feel" out of your vacation at the time you need it most, when your vacation is coming to an end & creating the last memory of your trip.
Can not get late checkouts without substantial fees.
Again, staff is VERY nice but focuses a little too much on the campers in the campsites & could have been better at supervising the entire campgrounds. Example; we & other campers we spoke to were shot at by BB Guns on both days we were there. We never saw the campers that shot at us being talked to by staff & the shooters never left the entire time we were there. We did not rat out the BB Gun shooters since we told them to knock it off ourselves, but we felt that with the staff constantly hawking campers in the campsites about their trash, camp fires, fire pits, glass bottle use, packing out several hours early & walking through campsites before checkout & other somewhat common camping acts, that they would have been equally involved to been able to have stopped or even prevented the BB Guns from being shot at their campers for a couple days.

We had the BEST time at Kern River’s Edge Campground! Kealy, Trevor, and the entire staff go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. The campground is super fun, clean, and welcoming—hot showers, clean bathrooms, and plenty of activities like volleyball, cornhole, and shuffleboard kept everyone entertained.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, even delivering firewood and ice right to our campsite. The location by the river is beautiful, and the campsites are spacious and well maintained. You can tell the team truly cares about making it a memorable experience.
Highly recommend this campground—Kealy, Trevor, and crew make it a 10/10 adventure every time!

I don’t write reviews a lot, but this place deserves 5 stars across the board. The sites were clean, multiple people driving around delivering ice and wood at your convenience. Bathrooms were the cleanest campground bathrooms I’ve been in. There wasn’t one time in a weekend where I saw that there was no toilet paper. The showers were warm. The river was nearby. The people were welcoming and very respectful of privacy and space! Resources for washing dishes, drinkable water spigots, close bathrooms/showers, on site store with general stuff. Lots of fun this weekend.

We had a great time at KRE. We arrived on Tuesday and left on Saturday. The bathrooms were clean and the showers worked well. They kept the grounds clean, and they were prompt in delivering the volleyball when we wanted to play. Very nice people. The campsite is right on the river, so when we got hot we went for a refreshing dip in the river! If you want a relaxing time you should go here. We even saw a deer in the campgrounds on our last day! It was really nice.
Very close to the launch sight of the Kern River for white water rafting, too.
