What Guests Are Saying

While the campsite at Shasta Lake is spacious enough for large groups, it struggled with issues such as inadequate bear lockers and insufficient ranger presence for trash management. Guests experienced nightly disturbances from bears, leading to a chaotic environment. Overall, the stay was disappointing, prompting an early departure.

We have camped at Shasta Lake many times before and this was by far the worst. The site says it holds 120 people but we are glad we only had about 20 because there is no way 120 people would have fit. There were only 2 bear lockers and both were broken. The ranger never came through to pick up trash. The bear came every night and was able to open the back of the trash can. The bear caused chaos each night, destroying ice chests and getting into vehicles. We left a night early because of how bad it was.

Pictures don’t do this place justice. We had a really large group and still had plenty of room to spare. We definitely will be coming back!
