About Deer Creek

Deer Creek Campground is located in California Sierra National Forest. The campground is tucked under dense fir and pines along the shore of Huntington Lake and offers scenic lake views, especially during the annual sailboat regatta. Boats can be moored near some of the camp sites. There are two loops to this campground: one is more heavily forested with more sites along the lake, and the other has more open and sunny sites with closer access to the resort community of Lakeshore. All sites have a view of Huntington Lake.

What Guests Are Saying

Deer Creek Campground offers a beautiful setting with clean facilities, friendly camp hosts, and great access to the lake, making it a popular choice for camping and outdoor activities. Many visitors appreciate the well-maintained campsites and ease of reserving spots online. However, some concerns were raised about limited restroom availability, occasional cleanliness issues, and the need for more campground options, particularly during busy seasons. Overall, it remains a cherished destination for many campers.

Very clean. No litter. Clean table. Enough room to back my 18' boat and pickup in.
Real bathrooms with flush toilets, but bring your own soap.
Campground was full, (August 3rd), of people with kids and dogs, but at 10pm on it was nearly silent the whole night. I was a little confused to where we were supposed to check in, as the launch ramp kiosk has the camping registration right on the day use payment envelopes. I guess we were supposed to register farther left into the parking lot where someone was sitting under an umbrella, but there were no signs so I just filled out the one by the launch ramp.

Great camping at a beautiful lake. Enjoyed the water activities and the local hikes - twin lakes was awesome. Had spot 8 which is very nice with easy access to bear cove. Only complaint is the spot was neglected by the ground crew, a huge bunch of weeds right by asphalt where you would walk from the trailer to the table. I had to borrow a shovel from the camp host to cut out the weeds. Also lots of grass "bushes" throughout the area where you would setup chairs. Definitely needs to be cleaned up. On the positive side the camp hosts are wonderful, friendly, and helpful. Restrooms were kept clean and well stocked.

There are no showers and only three of the four toilets are working. Bathrooms could be much cleaner but always stocked with TP.

Great campground. I think the best of all the campgrounds at Huntington Lake.

The campsite was clean and ready. The camp host addressed a concern we had regarding campers who violated the quiet hours and were very loud all night long.

Great views of the lake, although the cold wind had us looking for sun instead of shade. Short walk to the water spigot and bathroom. Plenty of firewood for the gathering nearby. The Lakeshore Resort store, saloon, and restaurant were great. The store is much improved.

Nice campground with pretty views of the lake. Had a "premium" (lakeside) spot which was actually a double campsite so we were really really really close to the neighbors as the place to park vehicles and trailers was basically a shared space. It would have been much nicer to have a little breathing room between the two campsites (even a few feet would have been nice).
The campground had some paved trails winding through it and dirt paths that followed the road so you could walk to the general store and restaurant without having to walk in the road.
There water spigots throughout the campground and garbage dumpsters too. Overall it was very clean. Pets were allowed on leash.
The lake was pretty windy so there were lots of sailboats. SUPS and kayaking was better in the early morning before the winds picked up.
There are lots of places to hike around there and of course there is plenty of fishing!
