Situated beside the winding American Canyon River, Camp Lotus is a family run campground and day use facility for fun, fishing, boating and camping.
LouAnn took care of all our needs, from reservations to checkout. The staff is warm and enthusiastic. Charlie saw that I was hungry, so before the little store closed at 8:00 pm, he toasted me a bagel w/ cream cheese!
Campsites are flat and conveniently adjacent to the water. We came in early October. It had rained the day before we arrived. The ground was damp but everything smelled so good.
The little general store is stocked pretty well. My family was camping, but I had the little cabin, so I got free delicious coffee at the store every morning. LouAnn always makes muffins, so I followed my nose and had a hot blueberry cornbread muffin. There were pumpkin and apple flavored ones, too. That was a perfect way to start the day.
There were plenty of fish in the river, and lots of folks in kayaks, too. We were lucky to be there for the annual Friends of the River event. This is a wonderful organization that was started by the owner of Camp Lotus. He is no longer with us, but his family carries on his legacy.

This was my second stay--a personal getaway on the river in a single room in a 3 room lodging. Shared full bathroom quite clean. Many rafters & campers in season so not always quiet but guests all nice. On site store very handy.

On a recent trip to enjoy WET’s white water rafting experience on the south fork of the American River, we had to use the parking lot at Camp Lotus. We were running ten minutes behind and neglected to stop at the main office before meeting our guide. Once we returned from the trip, we found a pink notice on our car reminding us to pay the $5 fee at the front desk prior to exiting the site. This made sense and was quite clear. However, while my friends were changing in the bathrooms, I was confronted by a white-haired employee who was immediately rude, demanding, and confrontational. After an incredible experience, this was both unexpected and unwarranted. As a paying customer of WET, this kind of interaction could easily dampen the positive word of mouth marketing that a small outfit like that certainly relies on. I felt strongly enough to express this to that employee after asking to speak to the manager and finding out they were a familial relation to the individual in charge. I run a small business of my own, and I am certain that if this employee felt entitled to interact with customers in such an inappropriate way, they are most certainly using the same communication style with their fellow employees and the members of other organizations that also operate on the camp’s property. My recommendation would be to offer this individual some targeted professional development that can support a shift in their professionalism and behavior. For a small business like Camp Lotus, the attitude and approach of their employees really does make all the difference. I would hate to learn that companies like WET are inadvertently impacted because of that kind of unprofessional behavior (and over $5 mind you) by someone like that.

Camp Lotus is a great family place. Cynophobic friendly! No dogs allowed. I love it. Great for small children and for older folks alike. Young people have the river a nice volleyball court. We have been out here ever year for 3 years now and it is a beautiful friendly atmosphere. The cabins are pristine and fully air conditioned. And the campsites are kept very clean.

My time at Camp Lotus was truly exceptional. The level of service exceeded expectations. The staff were not only courteous and attentive but also seemed genuinely invested in ensuring guests had a pleasant and comfortable stay. The campground exudes tranquility, is impeccably kept, and sits amidst breathtaking natural scenery. Whether you’re unwinding by the river, appreciating the generous campsite space, or venturing out on the surrounding trails, Camp Lotus provides an ideal retreat into nature. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in search of a rejuvenating and unforgettable outdoor experience.
