A lovely lake, nice quiet campground. Clean vault toilets but no running water. Mostly used for fishing. Nice paved walk all the way around that's seldom used. Not far off the highway and paved all the way up.

Still having problems with water in the campground. Had to carry water up from the lake in order to put out our campfire. No water for cleaning fish at fish station, disgusting fish guts covering the sink and ground around the area. Water was turned on in the campground on Tuesday,non potable,put useable to put out fires. Bathrooms clean,sparse on toilet paper till late in the day on Monday. Still a beautiful,quiet camping experience.

Incredibly beautiful and secluded spot. Highly recommend. Bring your own drinking water. Make sure to find the PAVED road into the campground; the unpaved entry is really bad!

Juanita Lake is a yearly tradition highlight for us! We always enjoy our morning walks on the paved trail around the Lake (I believe its around 1.5 miles) so it makes a perfect family walk! Lots of fish to be spotted! The Lake is a perfect size to use for paddle boarding, kayaking or just floating! Campgrounds are nice and conveniently located to the Lake. (This year it was concerning re: the Campsite maintenance i.e. lack of pine needle clean up around fire pits etc. so we made sure to scrape the pine needles into piles to prevent unwanted fire excitement). Perfect Day spot too.

Campground was clean and well maintained. I like the new reservation system as it ensures you will have a camping spot when you arrive.Forest service personnel were very helpful and friendly.

Quiet,small campground. Family friendly,with good sites on a peaceful lake. They have been experiencing water problems for the past couple of years,so be sure to bring drinking water. Our first trip there this year there was no water in the campground,so we had to haul water in bucket's up from the lake in order to safely put out the campfire and to use the gush cleaning station. Our second trip,three weeks later,we had water in the campgrounds and a lot of tree debris from trees that the forest service had recently cut down due to a bark beetle infestation that killed the trees. These logs should have been removed from the campsites as moving around them was difficult for my wife who uses a cane. The road up to the campground is in serious need of repairs,potholes are numerous ,deep and wide. All in all a beautiful place to camp with your reservation

From I-5 at Weed, CA travel northeast on State Hwy 97 approximately 35 miles to Ball Mtn Road. Turn west (left) on Ball Mtn Road and go approximately 4 miles to Forest Service Road 46N04. Turn right on 46N04 and continue to Juanita Lake and campground.
From the north, traveling south on Hwy 97, turn west (right) approximately 3.8 miles south of the town of Macdoel on the Ball Mtn. Road. Travel approximately 4 miles to Forest Service Road 46N04. Turn right on 46N04 and continue to Juanita Lake and campground.
Juanita Lake Campground is accessible via I-5 approximately 35 miles to the southwest, and State Hwy 97 which runs nearby. Ball Mtn Road connects to Hwy 97 and leads to the campground.
Elevation: 1566 feet
10 mi drive to downtown Macdoel (about 16 min)

- No off-highway vehicle use in the campground
- Fire wood: anything dead and down may be gathered for campfires (no chainsaws)
- There is limited RV parking.
