The campground was clean and well maintained. The restrooms were clean and in good shape. The campground was very quiet at night and other campers were nice and polite. The big draw back was the heavy smoke from the various fires ongoing in the sierra. That smoke detracted from the overall enjoyment of our trip. This makes two years in a row with the fires and smoke issue, very upsetting and depressing.

Campsite was great. Nice view of the lake. Caught a fish. Too bad the weather changed and had to leave due to snow.

Well, at first we thought we were in the Silver Lake (SL) 'Resort' across the road and pulled in there. Tough choice for a 32' Class A with towed Jeep! We finally found our spot across the street at the NP and got all setup...nice and roomy, quiet...didn't see any bears though there were plenty of food lockers about.
Tried our hand at fishing in the lake...fishing, not catching, for sure. Even my 'Pro' Bass Fisherman Brother in Law 'fished' and caught nothing. Oh well. Other than that, all was great...there was a kook in a GIANT class A with new Jeep (ours is a 1997) who had shown up some week late and wondered why his spot was given away to another camper. Kook refused to accept responsibility and bitched out the Northern Camp Host for some time. Host was VERY gracious and courteous...I'm sure I'd have been much more gruff.
All in all? Good stuff...we'll go back.

This is a beautiful campground nestled in the June Loop area of the Eastern Sierra's. Approx. 30 mins from the Mammoth Lakes area just off Highway 395. Silver Lake campground is on Silver lake and Rush creek.
We stayed 3 nights in our 35' - 5th wheel . Bathrooms and showers were not available ( due to Covid Protocols ) at the time of our stay.
We traveled with my 2 grandsons (6 and 3) and their parents. They enjoyed every minute of walks, fishing, small hikes and watching the deer migrate throughout the Camp.
No power or water at each site , but water is available in Campground to fill tanks, scattered about every 5 spots.
Easy access to fishing and hiking all through the area.
Campground hosts were visible and friendly. Oversized and Extra vehicle parking may find it difficult in the Campground. ASK the hosts for best off site parking info. The side of the road adjacent to campground may be a thought.
Distance between camp-sites is plentiful for privacy.
Alternative to this campground, the SilverLake RV Resort Parking lot across the highway. Don't get me wrong, I've stayed there and appreciate the Full hook ups, the General store and Marina for Boat rentals. But basically just enough room to park your rig. We didn't want to stare at the side of our fellow campers rig and hear their every move.
This INYO forest campground was 5 star place to camp if you have a self-contained rig or just want to rough it camp. I'm sure the use of bathroom & shower amenities will change when Covid restrictions are eased soon.
Reservations and campground site info on Recreation.gov website was more than informative and easy to use.
Cheers !
