Scenic makes a great base camp for fishing.
Just a heads up, There is not a lot of shade if tent camping.

My daughter and I spent two nights at Silver Lake Campground in the June Lake loop, and it was absolutely incredible. The setting is simply breathtaking—the surrounding mountains, waterfalls, and magnificent Silver Lake make this such a special place to camp. We honestly didn’t want to leave!
A few of the campsites are a little tight and don’t offer a ton of privacy, but for us, the incredible scenery and peaceful atmosphere more than made up for it. Everyone seemed to respect the quiet hours, and the evenings were wonderfully peaceful.
The bathrooms and facilities were kept very clean, and there are flush toilets, which is always a camping bonus! One thing to know before you go: bring quarters for the showers. The showers are located at the far end of the campground, and you’ll want at least $2 in quarters for a decent shower. It would be wonderful if they eventually added another shower area because there aren’t many for the size of the campground.
Also, be prepared for wind, especially in the evenings. Silver Lake can get very windy, so make sure everything is well secured when setting up camp.
And don’t miss the Silver Lake Resort Café right nearby! It’s open for breakfast and lunch, the food is fantastic, and everyone at the resort was incredibly welcoming. It was such a fun little treat during our camping trip.
Overall, Silver Lake is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and a place we would definitely return to. If you love mountain views, waterfalls, a gorgeous lake, and waking up surrounded by nature, it’s hard to beat. ❤️🏕️🏔️

- This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations
- Be bear aware; keep all food out of site in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating; always keep a clean camp and do not feed any wild animals; campground host has bear literature
- Only 2 pets per site allowed.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed. For current fire conditions or weather closures contact the Mammoth Lakes Visitor Center, (760) 924-5500, or the Mono Lakes Visitor Center, (760) 647-3044.
- Please Note: One RV with tow per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. In accordance with standard industry practices, Inyo Recreation will assess an additional $10.00 extra vehicle fee per day for the second vehicle in each single family campsite, and on the third and fourth vehicle in any double family campsite, provided these vehicles are not joined to the first vehicle by a hitch and towed onto the site. In the case of motorcycles, the first two are considered one vehicle, and the third and fourth motorcycle are also considered one vehicle. No additional vehicle fees are collected for bicycles.
- Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of the second day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests.
- Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
