The falls are beautiful and if it gets too hot in the afternoon, it's a short drive up Mt. Shasta to get out of the heat. We didn't enjoy the pit toilets but that's part of camping.

Awful experience!!! Fowler’s is absolutely beautiful! My family and I have come here every year for awhile now. We love the waterfalls and gorgeous surroundings. However this will be our last trip. There is no longer a camp host on site. The past camp host was a wonderful couple who took care of things and made sure rules were followed which made for a wonderful quiet place to camp. But they are no longer there. No camp host is there so this has allowed many campers to do whatever they want without consequences. Very very noisy neighbors!! Loud music and generators playing/running all night long! Laser lights and flash lights being pointed at us and our tents. A ranger drives through about 10am to check reservation dates and is not seen again. I love this place and I’m so very sad because I will not be back unless there’s a camp host living on site again. We ended up leaving early due to the campers behavior and no one to take our concerns to.

We had campsite 4A and it was close to the lower falls trail, water source and the site was well shaded and not to far from the bathrooms. The bathrooms needed a bit of cleaning but overall a good experience.

Can’t beat the location on the McCloud River within hiking distance of the Lower Falls; campsites have natural beauty in this forested location. We did not feel crowded by other campers. Folks camping were respectful and there were no loud parties when quiet hours began. There was only one restroom to service our loop; garbage collection was in the same area. We biked to Middle and Upper Falls. The hike to Middle Falls from Campground is well traveled but worth the climb.. Hike to Lower Falls is an easier hike on paved trail. The Falls this year were spectacular. River was too cold for swimming June, 2023.

The area is beautiful, campsites with a good sturdy table & walking distance to all the waterfalls. The bathrooms didn’t have much toilet paper (at least 1 toilet out of TP every day) and our neighbors had really really barky dogs that lunged after people walking on nearby paths. There was no camp host or ranger to talk to. Also FYI - there was a bear meandering the campsites one of the nights.

The location and proximity to hiking and waterfalls (which were overflowing with water) was great. The bathrooms often lacked toilet paper and were not clean. There was no camp host when we camped there in June 2023, so you had to travel to McCloud to get firewood. Had some noisy neighbors that allowed their dogs to continuously bark. This behavior went unchecked because there was no one monitoring the campgrounds in any fashion.

Camping along the McCloud River is a wonderful experience! The scenery is gorgeous and the River Trail is one of the best you can find anywhere. The campground is well kept and it’s like staying in the amusement park all day.

Nice place to stay for 1-2 nights. All 3 beautiful waterfalls are located not so far, wild animals (deer, chipmunks) walk around the camp. No shower and wash basins.

This is the first year that Fowlers has been anything but excellent for us. Fowlers is a nice campground with a great location on the river but it needs to be managed more closely given the number of campers and day trippers who visit.

From McCloud, California, go east on Highway 89. Drive 5 miles and look for the Fowlers/Lower Falls Sign. Turn right just after the sign and drive approximately 1 mile. Once you cross the River Loop Road take the left fork into the campground. The right fork will take you to the day use/parking area for Lower Falls and the beginning of the River Trail.
