What Guests Are Saying
Fowler's Campground is praised for its beautiful setting, spacious sites, and excellent access to stunning waterfalls and swimming holes along the McCloud River. Camp hosts are noted for their friendliness and helpfulness, contributing to a clean and well-maintained environment. While some guests experienced noise disturbances from other campers, overall, the campground is seen as a fantastic destination for families and nature lovers, despite a few complaints about restroom maintenance and the absence of a camp host during certain visits.

Fowlers is one of our favorite campgrounds - close by, beautiful, and good fishing.

We like Fowler’s campground but going after Labor Day was pretty awful. The campground host had left. When we arrived, another group was in our pre-paid campsite with a tag saying they paid at the kiosk to stay in our site. The reservation placards on each campsite were only filled out (without reserved parties names) through Sept. 21st and our reservation started on the 25th. Thus no indication the campsite had already been reserved.
When we called the Forest Service station, they stated they didn’t know where the host had gone. Later a group moved in played very loud music with base booming throughout the campground.
We just found a different open campsite and didn’t make a scene with those in our campsite because they had a tag indicating they had paid for the site also. But we were disappointed because our reserved site overlooked the river and we had to take one in the interior. Other campers were running their generators non-stop.
We finally complained to the forest service that there was a free-for-all happening at the campground and they sent a ranger.
The loud music group temporarily lowered their volume then cranked it up again later.
Despite all this, we enjoyed the location and the three beautiful waterfalls and hikes to see them. Our campsite was still pleasant as the music group had moved farther away and the bathrooms were clean.
The ranger who came confessed the host was on vacation with his family and they hoped he would return next year!! I realized the host was probably only contracted through Labor Day! They need to contract for the host to stay as long as the campground is open.

Hiked to all 3 McCloud waterfalls from the campsite. Enjoyed Mt Shasta trails nearby.

Campsite 18 was overgrown and under maintained. Everything else was great with the lower falls being in walking distance. The camp host was very friendly and accommodating. Overall it was a good experience and I would have given a five star if the campground was better maintained.

We were marked as a no-show, even though we called multiple times to try to reach someone to let them know we would not be there the first night. Always got a recording no opportunity, voicemail and chat bot would not help.. when we got there our site had been given away and the campground was full. There was no campground host either. Lousy experience..

Really enjoy the campground and area. It wish there was a host onsite to help with issues that came up.

Been coming here for a long time. It was again a Great Stay with the exception of the lack of a camp host. Another minus was the Shasta Area Hatchery deciding Not To Plant Fish In September at Fowlers Camp for the second year in a row. It was a bit noisier this year with people coming in late (10PM), but I slept well anyway. Other than these small issues, it was another Great Stay.

We cannot put into words how delighted we were to FINALLY get to spend the night and day at the Fowler Camp. Both falls were flowing STRONG for mid September. The Campground and facilities were outstanding.
