Very nice campground. We visited mid-week, so it was sparsely occupied. We had a nice site, with a little bit of occasional traffic noise from highway 33. Great little creek (Matilija) was running, which made for a quiet little water sanctuary. I will go back.

Loved the campground, very well maintained. Campsite 040 is as pictured, very shady with lots of large rocks. It is set back from the road and feels quite sheltered/private. It’s lovely to hear the river at night. There were a lot of bugs so be sure to bring bug spray. Also important to note there was a lot of poison oak growing at this site so be cautious if you bring kids/dogs. Zero cell service through the campground.

Excellent place to camp! All of the hosts are friendly, welcoming and they keep everything very clean. Bring bug spray or a Thermacell and lots of water.

The camp host was lovely and very nice to work with. We hosted a big group here and had a really nice time. It's a beautiful campsite, the kids had a fun time playing in the stream (minus the tiny leeches!!) Only negative feedback is Site 57 is really awful. It is wayyyyy to close to the bathrooms, so smell is an issue and the squeaky door opening all night long. It should not really be a site. However, all other sites that we rented were wonderful.

We love Wheeler Gorge! The campground is beautiful and well kept. The pit toilets were always stocked with toilet paper! We’ve taken two trips to Wheeler Gorge and it is magical.
The only downfall is the lack of running water, but we’ll keep coming back even without that!

This is a great place, totally off grid, you must bring everything including potable water. There is a nice river that runs through the center of the park. It has plenty of shade trees everywhere and the sites are very big. There are a few hiking trails in the area, one at the end of the park, but be aware there is lots of poison oak. Fire wood is available and i believe all sites have a fire ring and pinic table, most have charcoal grills. The park rangers are very friendly as is teh camp host.
Ojai is just a few mile south on teh 33 and a fun town to visit.

Had site 40, 41 & 43. Imo 41 & 43 are the best in the whole campground. 41 is right on the stream (bring bug spray though!) and was our “home base” where we all hung out. 43 is a short walk up the road from 41, & had the best swimming hole. 40 was right across from 41 had lots of very fun boulders scattered around. Even though it borders the creek, you could not access it directly due to overgrown poison oak. 40 also had a lot of boulders around the fire pit area so would have been more challenging to work around if you are camping with a bunch of people.

We stayed in camp ground #24. It was very shaded. The down side it was really close to campsite 23 so we could hear there whole conversations. It's also right next to the highway, so u can hear cars zooming by every now and then. No running water on site, so we took a 5 gallon jug for three of us and it worked out. The toilets were ok, they maintenance them daily so they don't smell bad. Overall the campsite was great.
The creek had a good amount of water in it and our 7 year old loved hopping around the rocks.
Mosquitos are so present and ate me alive, but we didn't have bug spray just some bracelets that did not work.
My family had a great time.
