Pinnacles Campground

We arrived at Spot 74. After unpacking, we found an anthill where our tent would go, but that comes with the territory. What I didn't appreciate is the PATH going from my parking spot (which is 12 feet from the road) into a shortcut to the bathrooms. Also, FIRES were not allowed, which is 90% of the camping experience. Finally, we thought we'd make the most of it but the noise level that was atrocious at 7 only grew louder by 9, so we packed up and left without even stating the night.

Campsite was nice, relatively large, and private. It didn't have shade during the day though and it was very hot so we had to sit at another picnic table. Site 16 nearby had good shade. No generators so it was nice and quiet. Two showers for ladies were clean and no line midweek. Restrooms were clean. Biggest complaint is that the bathroom stalls didn't have hooks to hang a bag on. Park staff were helpful in selecting hiking trails when it was hotter than we expected. Camp store had a microwave for camper use and a small selection of food.

Very nice nation park, highly, highly recommend visiting, camp ground all together was about $45 for a nice place with some shade, a campfire ring (that was closed due to dry land fire restrictions) a park bench and a raccoon/bear proof container for food. there are free showers, and bathrooms that are very well kept and enjoyable to use! there was also a pool but it closes at 5:30 so we did not have time to stop by. the only thing that was less than optimal was the raccoons. do NOT take them lightly.... we had a group of 5 and decided to make a large dinner with pasta, meat, vegetables, ect, with a propane stove. And when I tell you the raccoons were ruthless its an understatement. we got over run by 20+ raccoons who almost stole a bag and a few other things, it was kinda funny and it made for a good story and was partly our fault for cooking like that in nature. but overall probably the best national park I've been to.

Was very hot but that was expected for this time of year. Camp sites and facilities were clean and well maintained and restrooms were well stocked.

The campsite was okay. I really enjoyed the facilities and having the chance to choose a site near water. My husband and I are newlyweds, and enjoying our first year together.
However, the campsite had trash from a former visitor before us. We set up camp and it was pleasant. Quiet hours were not respected, at all, from other visitors. It was full the weekend I visited. There were yelling families, revving cars, and bright headlights until 1:30am. The park staff did not enforce the quiet hours, which should not be necessary if everyone is respectful of the other campers and cabins around us.

If you want to enjoy nature for a full weekend, I would recommend going elsewhere. I very much still felt the presence of other people.

Ideal site. Spacious, secluded and private, and close to the sweet little creek. In the shade all day long, and close to the porta potties, potable water, and dumpster area without being too close.

Amazing hiking, which is what you're there for. Condors were elusive on the weekend we were there, but we did spot a few.

Facilities are meager. The pool is small and kinda gross (and totally exposed to the sun) with very limited seating. There are just a handful of showers, located near the visitor center only. The electric car "charging stations" are laughable (1% gain over one hour for $3). The camp store and welcome center are small, but had the basics (and AC!).

Amenities were clean and well working, check in was easy, but campground did not have attendants enforcing quiet hours. Raccoons were very bold and caused an issue with unprepared campers who arrived late next to us and ended up screaming for around 30mins after 11pm dealing with them. The signs and warnings were clear but some people will still not heed them.

Beautiful campground and slightly isolated from the street so you don't have any neighbors bothering you! Next to the porta potties for easy bathroom access.

This is one of my very favorite campsites! It’s perfect for hammock camping, with multiple trees at a good distance from each other. At least 2 hammocks can be set up between trees—more if you use hammock stand poles like the Tensa Solo or Tensa Trekking Treez. There is a shady area under a thicket of trees and surrounded by brush that fits a tent perfectly, too. The campsite is along the creek, so you hear the water if you are close enough and it’s lovely. The frogs will sing you to sleep. The site is close to the campground entrance which means more foot and vehicle traffic, but it also means the WiFi from the camp store reaches the campsite! You do have to pay for any more than 50 mb of data (which is not a lot), but it’s $7 for 7 days, per device. So if this is my favorite campsite, why the 4 stars? Raccoons. Raccoons the size of dogs. Raccoons that travel in packs of 8 or more and come out of that thicket I was talking about. I went to the bathroom and came back and they were trying to steal my sweatshirt that I had tied to the picnic table!! They are bold and will come up and take food off your table while you are sitting there!! It was honestly pretty funny, and a good, loud “get outta here!” shoos them away. Don’t let the raccoons put you off of this campsite, though. It really is magical at night with the stars and Milky Way on full display.
