Point Reyes National Seashore Campground

Clean vault toilet, potable water, bear box - recommend long pants to get to your site in the spring, as everything is green/growing so the path (at least for site 12) will be overgrown!

We backpacked in from the Five Brooks Tailhead. The hike was moderate. We stayed at Wildcat campsite 4. It was nice and perfect for the 3 of us. Potable water is available and plenty of toilets paper in the bathrooms at all time. If you plan to have a fire on the beach, don’t forget to print out your fire permit.

Have been to Wildcat campground probably a dozen times. Never tire of it.
Hiked in from Bear Valley. Highly suggest taking Bv > Glen > Stewart.
**Avoid Coast trail which is significantly overgrown with poison oak 😬 **

Great stay! Used this as an alternative to a hotel and it honestly went great. A bit unclear how to get to the main trail from the parking lot at Limantour, but we had a nice walk on the beach before diving through the dunes near a big tree which got us safely there. Don't forget to hit the Point Reyes Crater and Sculptured Beach! We did.

My son and I packrafted across Tamales Bay and had a great time camping on the beach.

Coast camp is an easy hike. Nonetheless it has all the beauty and wild life of any of the camps in Point Reyes. It is always lovely to be there.

We had a group permit for TOMALES beach, however when we got there several large groups were already there and there was no space for us. The group permits should guarantee that you will have a space.

Camp site #2 was the best in my opinion with a view of the ocean as I sat at the table, many wildflowers in bloom, birds filling the air with song, and baby bunnies playing in the campsite in the morning. The host introduced himself after I was settled and I felt very safe there. Some other campers I spoke with were disappointed they couldn't hear the ocean and were in the upper numbered sites that have no privacy. Only 1-7 do and they're worth the wait for a reservation. Print out a beach fire permit and get it signed at the visitor center to make sure circumstances hadn't changed. There was no driftwood along the beach near the camp, but you can make a fire along the beach and there is access between the Coast trail and the trailhead parking lot. Bathrooms were well stocked and clean and the water was drinkable but if you prefer filtered it may not be to your liking. If you're adventurous, start at Bear Valley visitor center and hike over the mountain to the camp. The solitude of the trail was peaceful and the views are outstanding.

The hike in was beautiful and most of the trail was well maintained. The last bit into camp was a very narrow and overgrown section but it wasn’t horrible. I really enjoyed site one, it is the closest site to the water source so it made it easy to cook and fill up my water bottles.
