Point Reyes National Seashore offers four backcountry hike in campgrounds and thirteen boat in campsites along Tomales Bay. Note: For reservation purposes, our campgrounds are organized under the "loop" column of the reservation grid. The camp is quite open (people can see the entire setup when they walk by) but not many people walk by, nice and quiet. Water and bathrooms are a short walk, but the other camps (1, 2, 3) are a bit closer if that is a concern. Pretty small area to set up camp, just fit two tents (2P and 3P). Small dips collect water when rain happens, and table area not well shaded from the wind (can't speak for other camps). Still a very fun and cute site!

Perfect trip. 6 mi in from Bear Valley Teailhead. Started at 1:30 and arrived before sunset at 5. Sky Trail well maintained. Camp site was wide open, soft ground.

Having access to this kind of coastal beauty so close to a city with 750000 people is pretty unique.

Elk, bobcat, rock formations, waterfalls…just incredible.

Beautiful location and well kept camp sites. Even with wretched weather we had a fab time. Herds of elk. Also saw coyotes and deer. Backpacked the southern area and drove over to the lighthouse for a fab day trip which included viewing elephant seals.

#3 of sky has very good view and can fit 2 two person tent. On a clear day, you can see the coastline near the lighthouse. The sunset the breathtaking. We parked the car at Bear Valley and hiked via mountain Wittenberg trail - short but steep. Be aware of banana slugs, many of them at the campsite after sunset - make sure you close your tent zip tight to prevent the slugs inside your tent. The campsite has drinking water and clean pit toilet.

#11 is directly cross the bathroom but with some distance and has some privacy. It can fit 2 two person tent. This campsite is near a river and is very moist. When we arrive our site at 5pm, everything was wet (no rain prior). Glen is very different than other three campgrounds - feel like a different world when you camp here. We only stayed one night and hiked from Glen to Coast the next day.

#3 can fit 2 two person tents. You can see ocean from the picnic table - the sunset was beautiful! The locker is new. The bathroom is on the other side of the campground, but I like sites 1-7 with more seclusion. Short walk to the beach. There are total 14 sites. 2,3,5,7 and 11 sites are released 14 days ahead; 9 is released on the same day; others sites are released 3 months ahead. I love this campground. It’s only 3-4 mi hike with minimal elevation from Laguna trailhead and 6.5 mi hike with 1,100 ft gain. Beautiful hike to the campground and there are lots to explore near by. The walk along the beach to sculpture beach when low tide is must, but check the tide schedule with the ranger before you explore.

ONLY ONE CAMPGROUND RESERVATION PER NIGHT PER PARTY OR GROUP. ! DON’T BE A “NO SHOW”. Be kind and cancel reserved nights that you will not use.! NOISE: AUDIBLE MUSIC OF ANY TYPE IS NOT ALLOWED. BACKCOUNTRY HIKE-IN SITE INFORMATION> All sites at Coast, Glen, Sky and Wildcat Camp are Hike-In backcountry sites that require hiking or biking in with camping gear for several miles. > THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO CAMPGROUND FIRES ALLOWED.  > Charcoal use is prohibited, use only gas stoves for cooking.  > Always keep all food or scented items in the provided food lockers.> Possession of a glass container on the water or in a vessel or within 50 feet of any riverbank, lakeshore, beach, on the water or in a vessel is prohibited.> All areas in the park are closed to visitor vehicle parking between the hours of midnight and 6 am with the exception of visitors holding backcountry camping permits may park at established trailheads. Leave a copy of your reservation on the dash of all vehicles associated with camping reservation to serve as a valid parking permit.
TOMALES BAY BOAT-IN INFORMATION> Boat-in sites are ONLY reachable by Boat. ALL Tomales Bay permits require use of a boat, including group sites on Marshall Beach and Tomales Beach. > Boat Launch and vehicle parking for all Boat-In campsites are located outside of the boundaries of the Point Reyes National Seashore.  ! A Wag Bag or portable toilet is required to carry out human waste for all Boat A and Boat B permit holders.   > There is NO potable water on Tomales Bay for Boat-In camping- you must bring your own. > Possession of a glass container on the water or in a vessel or within 50 feet of any riverbank, lakeshore, beach, on the water or in a vessel is prohibited.> Boat-in Amenities: NONE. Except for vault toilets on Marshall Beach and Tomales Beach.> Food Storage: Raccoon- and rodent-proof food storage, such as bear canisters or Kevlar food bags are required.     > Group Site Permit holders at Marshall Beach and Tomales Beach are required to camp only at Marshall or Tomales Beach.    > Marshall Beach allows for two group permits at any one time. Groups 1 and 2 must set up camp in a way that allows room for two parties to be able to share the beach.> Boat A and Boat B Permits are not assigned to specific campsite locations. These permits are authorized for dispersed minimum impact camping within 75 feet of the mean high tide level at any of these select beaches along the west shore of Tomales Bay: *North Blue Gum Beach*South Blue Gun Beach*Pita Beach*White Gulch Beach*Wall Beach*Pelican North Beach*Elk Fence North Beach*Elk Fence South Beach*Tomales Beach*No Name Beach*Marshall Beach*Long Cove Beach*Kilkenny BeachBOAT-IN WEATHER AND SAFETY: Expect calm winds in the mornings with increasing winds from the northwest in the afternoon. Crossing Tomales Bay during Small Craft Advisories issued by the National Weather Service can be hazardous. You are responsible for checking safe weather and tide conditions. You should be an experienced kayaker or be going with an experienced group. ALWAYS WEAR A LIFE JACKET.
