Point Reyes National Seashore Campground

This place has quickly become my 7 year-old son's favorite spot to take his friends on their first backpacking trips. It's a short hike in (1.5 mi) and then he likes to day-hike down the mountain and act like a little guide on the Earthquake Trail. We've consistently gotten great views from the site and almost always see the grey foxes at the site.

*If you are trying to reserve a same day site and it doesn't pop up at 9:30am call the visitors center (they often forget to release the sites)*

- bear boxes are clean and rodent proof, tables are very clean, bathrooms well maintained
- prepare for wind i.e. make sure your stove can handle cooking in the wind and bring a windbreaker. Sites 1-7 are well protected and private. Sites 8-12 essentially are in a giant L shaped field together. Site 10 is the most separated. Sites 8 and 9 have the most people walking through in order to access the bathroom. If you are pitching more then 2 tents I would choose a site 8-12 as many sites 1-7 don't have flat space for 3 tents.
- people are nice and responsible, busy mid week. Still a few campsites no showed even though it all said reserved online.
- some parts of the laguna/firelane trail are very muddy so bring waterproof shoes and extra socks or take coast trail. Parts of the lower campgrounds are swampy but after a while you figure out the best ways to hop, skip jump to dry land

The waterfall was the biggest I've ever seen it. Despite the rain we got on one of our days, it was still a fabulous trip.

Excellent overnight at Wildcat Camp, as always. Good facilities, with amenities: picnic table, potable water, and a toilet. Plus early morning access to Alamere Falls, and a small local band of Tule Elk. What's not to like?

Beautiful, shaded site. A bit further from the toilets, but the plus-side is that it was quite private. Nice, large and flat pads for tents.

Beautiful campsite! We were in the Group Site which is pretty exposed to the elements and along the main trail. It was much more windy than some of the more tucked away sites. Still, it was absolutely gorgeous. Nice amenities. Recommend getting a fire permit to have a bonfire on the beach! Our first day was a short hike (from near the hostel), so we all carried a few pieces of wood -- definitely a highlight of the trip.

We did three nights in early April. The weather was cool and it rained one night and day, but it was totally worth seeing the new flowers popping up. We also saw quail, turkey vultures, hawks, deer, elk, and other birds. What a variety of rainforest, burned forest on the comeback, coastal plains, running creeks, waterfall...really fun and well maintained trails with the exception of a few newly downed trees.

The site is well maintained. Sites 1-7 are separate from the side with amenities, but I didn't mind the short walk to the facilities. Sites 1-7 are on a hillside, so each one has a terraced view of the ocean without having to look at your neighbors. Some parts of the trail and even low lying spots by the toilets are still muddy and waterlogged, so watch your step!

Nice location at this Glen. We enjoyed the hike into the camp site. The picnic table was brand new and included a hot plate at one end. Convenient and safe to cook on it. Fresh drinking water is available and also toilets. From here we did a day hike to Wildcat beach Camp and also the Waterfalls. Very pretty excursion.

we stayed in Sky 010, and the view was perfect! Such a lovely, luxury campsite with bear box, picnic table, running water, and toilets. An easy hike in with many interconnected trails, so you can easily make it more challenging. Beautiful, well-maintained trails. 10/10!
