Was a very easy hike. And the camp spot was amazing. We had lots of space and good privacy. It's a good beginners backpacking trip.

Besides the great views from above Coast campground, the campground itself is gem. It is a great intro for someone new to backpacking. The vault toilets, potable water, food lockers, and picnic tables make it so that there are fewer things to have to worry about on someone's first hike-in trip. There are multiple routes into the campground so you can vary the mileage in. The lockers and picnic tables are either fairly new or just holding up well to the elements. Some things to be concerned about, the campground can get very windy. The west leg probably would be better sheltered than the south and east legs. The sites in the west leg are more tucked into brush, where the south and east are fairly open. Tent guy lines, even if not used would be a good idea to bring, as would a stove that can utilize a windscreen. I don't know if it was an atypical weekend when I was there, but it was windy enough to blow water bottles and our stove around. That didn't detract from having a great camp out. Great teachable moments for people who have never had to deal with it.

Still pretty cold and wet nights in late April, but the vibrant green hill hikes and desolate beaches make this place a must stay :)

I always have the best trips to point Reyes the distance to backpacking sites ranges so it’s perfect for short or long trips. The sites are well kept up and all have bear lockers!

I love how many hiking trails there are; I was able to hike over 40 mi during a 2 night backpacking trip. Everything is so well maintained—many thanks to all the rangers and trail crews.

Really beautiful campsite with ocean views!! Loved the spot to set up camp that was a little more in the trees at site 006. Super easy and beautiful 1.4 mi hike out to it too.
