Cottonwood Creek

We were advised the water was not potable before arrival but they received clearance that water was now ok the weekend that we arrived. We found the campground incredibly quiet even though it was 4th of July weekend, and, the camp hosts are fantastic and were so helpful to us getting set up with some minor camping issues. We changed an August trip to this campsite instead of where we were going to stay -looking forward to returning!

This is the 3rd year in a row that I have taken my students to Cottonwood Creek Campground. The campground is quiet, the sites are large and the hosts were such helpful and friendly people. Even the bathrooms were kept very clean. I look forward to coming back every year. Oh, and the Botanical Trail is worth a walk.

Lovely Campground with super friendly hosts! We went with our 8mo baby as her firwst camping experience and aboslutley loved it!
Water situation is still declared as not potable, but we boiled it and used it and were fine - took home water supply for baby
Plenty dry pine cones and wood laying around for campfires, lot of space between sites and friendly hosts to check in
Oh and bonus is the short little walk/trail that starts right from the campground. temp. falls down quite a bit at night so be prepared for that

Site was beautiful and quiet. Nicest restrooms I’ve ever seen on a campground.

We had a great time. The campground was clean and well maintained. The onsite water was an issue but with our fresh tank full it did not become an issue for us. Carrie and Pat, the campground hosts, were fantastic and we enjoyed their visits and company. We hope to make it back up there again before the season is over.

The camp hosts and staff have got this campground in great shape for summer visitors. Campsites were cleared of winter debris. Each site I saw had a clean, flat spot for a tent. The sites are back-in for easy trailer parking. The host was available for questions. Reserved sites and first-comes were clearly marked. A super nice National Forest campground close to excellent spring birding in Sierraville.

Carrie and Patrick were great hosts. Friendly and informative. The bathrooms were clean and the sites were ready for campers!

The camp hosts have the grounds looking neat and were very friendly. The site was quiet and the forest is awesome.

This is a very lovely and quiet campground that we’ve been visiting annually for over 25 years. For birdwatchers, it’s within 5 miles to Sierra Valley, which is bird rich in the spring. The Mexican restaurant, Dos Hermanos, in Sierraville is not to be missed. Only a few times in all the years we’ve been going have we had bad experiences with other campers with their non-stop generators, noise during quiet hours or unleashed barking dogs. When we go mid week in early June there are only a handful of campers in the whole campground. This year was the first year there was no camp host. And also the first year that the drinking water had not yet been tested leading to non potable water signs at all the spigots. We received notice about the water AFTER we returned home!

Cottonwood Creek campground is a beautiful, shady campground located close to several attractions that we like to visit including Sierra Valley, Weber Lake, Independent Lake and Jackson Meadows Reservoir.
