What Guests Are Saying
Upper Little Truckee campground is well-regarded for its clean facilities, including spotless bathrooms, and a friendly camp host, Vern, who goes above and beyond to enhance visitors' experiences. The campground offers spacious sites and is close to a lovely creek, ideal for relaxation and hiking. However, some guests noted the noise from nearby Highway 89 and inaccuracies in online maps, as well as a lack of hosts on-site for assistance.

Bathrooms were clean. However, there was no host site. We were told that someone would be selling wood at the campground, and there was no-one there to even talk to. The map online was not accurate with site and bathroom locations. We reserved a spot to be close to a bathroom for health reasons, and when we arrived the site ended up being about a 5 minute walk to the nearest bathroom. The site was very rocky, but not horrible.

Love the camp host vern, he is the best! Close to the highway and a creek so beware of mosquitoes. Very clean bathrooms.

This campground is kept very clean. Was quiet and enjoyable. Camp host Vern was friendly and helpful. Will try to stay here again next year.

The camp sites are a very good size with room for eight-person tents. The Truckee river is a short walk away, and the Bear Valley OHV trails are a short drive away. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked with paper. The potable water is available from a hand-pump station that flows after about seven pumps of the lever. The camp host was also very friendly.
The flow of the river is nice to listen to at night until a vehicle drives by. The campsite is butted up to highway 89. Traffic at night is sparse, but when a vehicle does come by everything else is drown out for a few seconds. That's the biggest drawback. Also there are no bear boxes, but I had no issues during my stay in June.

We chose Upper Little Truckee campground because it is a short trip from Sparks, and it is completely off grid. It was nice to have no connectivity for a few days. Unplugged, we were able to hike and relax without any distractions. Vern, the camp host, is always helpful and courteous. This is one of our favorite campgrounds close to home.

I liked this space. Our spot was right up against our neighbors but luckily they were super friendly. Nice little trail that leads to lower camp site - beautiful creek behind us that was safe for the kids to wade in. No fire burn in effect but understandable. You do hear traffic noise but it quiets down in the evening.

The creek near the campsite is lovely. The campsite is next to the highway 89. We can hear the traffic noise. There are a plenty of rocks surrounding the fire ring. Can’t have camp chairs. Had to stand to enjoy the warmth of the fire. Overall very nice experience.
