Clean restroom, lots of space for 12 person, although there’s a bear walking around every night they are not aggressive unless you provoke them. Best camping experience

About Eagles Nest at Camp Richardson Resort
Eagles Nest Campground provides a Lake Tahoe and Camp Richardson Resort experience unlike any other. Featuring beach access, and all the amenities you can think of within walking distance, guests get to bask in the remarkable beauty of Tahoe without sacrificing the resort experience. The campground has 25 double standard tent sites and 6 standard triple tent sites. Each campsite has a bear-proof food locker, picnic table, and fire pit with cooking grate. Tent camping only in this campground. No RVs allowed.

“Great campsite! It’s really close to the beach, the restrooms and showers are clean, and the staff is very helpful. The only small downside is that the campsites are a bit too close to each other.”

This place is a dump:
1. Toilets broken
2. No locks on stall doors
3. Soap dispensers falling off walls
4. Trash overflowing
5. Water source fouled with food waste
6. Garbage everywhere
7. Campsite group size grossly exceeded
8. No quiet hours enforced
9. Security did not enforce rules

To be honest. The place was nice but the people were a little out of hand. They had security that would swing by before dark, but then when it got dark they stopped coming. The people were partying with loud music and shouting and drinking all through the night. From midnight all the way to 4 or 5 am.
I even told the camp staff twice and even called the number they game me. People were a little more quiet but they were still kinda loud. It was hard to sleep.

Yes, sometimes people were unnecessarily loud at night. Yes, the restrooms were filthy. And yes, the reception was terrible. These complaints are all reasonable camping logistics. The location was stunning. The staff are responsive. The campsites are spotless. During our stay, there were tons of kids and happy families.

Very Good #103 was last minute cancel and we got to come out for 1 night. Right across from the beach. There was great space, hot water, flushing toilets and stocked supplies. Wish they allowed pets! 🐶

Beautiful place , close to the lake, showers , restrooms , two huge bear boxes , what else can you ask for, campground was huge you can fit like 6 tents. We loved it family of 12. Remember leave everything cleaner than when you arrived.

From Sacramento, take U.S. Highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe and proceed north past the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Highway 89 (the "Y"). Look for the Camp Richardson Resort sign on the right side of the Highway.
From North Shore (I-80, Reno, Truckee) take Highway 89 or U.S. Highway 50 to South Shore.
Highway access
The campground is accessible via U.S. Highway 50 and California Highway 89, with U.S. Highway 50 leading to South Lake Tahoe and Highway 89 providing access to the area.
Policies & Rules
General
- There are absolutely no pets allowed at this resort other than service animals.
- Tent camping only in this campground. No RVs allowed.
- Forest Order No. 19-15-01: Prohibits camping for a combined total of no more than 14 days during a calendar year (January-December), forest-wide. Visitors may book campsites annually but the maximum stay may not exceed a total of 14 days each calendar year (January-December).
- Check in is at the Kiosk at the entry to the Eagle's Nest Campground off of HWY 89.
- Bears frequent the area; all food must be kept in the provided food storage lockers at the site.
- Single Tent Sites - Maximum of 6 people, 2 tents, 1 Vehicle (1 additional parking pass may be purchased) Double Tent Sites - Maximum of 12 people, 4 tents, 2 Vehicle (2 additional parking passes may be purchased) Triple Tent Sites - Maximum of 18 people, 6 tents, 3 Vehicle (3 additional parking passes may be purchased)
- Campfires are permitted in the provided designated metal fire rings only, and must be attended at all times.
- Charcoal BBQs are not allowed within the campgrounds or on the beach.
- Quiet time is between.
- Reservation holders must be present at check-in with ID.
