What Guests Are Saying

Azalea Campground offers a beautiful natural setting with ample shaded and spacious sites, making it ideal for families and groups. Many campers enjoyed the proximity to trails, visitor centers, and stunning views of the surrounding giant sequoias. While some noted issues with bathroom cleanliness and site proximity, the overall experience was positive, with a strong desire to return for the peaceful atmosphere and convenient location between Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

A lot of people rave about the 60’s and how this is the spot to be. To be fair, I didn’t like any of the 60’s. People were extremely loud well past the hours of noise and this specific site was completely slanted that our rv was at an angle and you could feel it. This one was said to be secluded in one of the reviews, that is completely false. Do not book this one if you have an rv of any sort. It was nearly impossible getting into this site as it’s basically connected to 2 other ones and at some weird angle. If you have a hook up or a tent, perfect, don’t get this one if you have a 25+ ft rv. Trust me.

When I got to my campsite, there was someone in it. The park ranger already sold my campsite to someone else and didnt mark it online, so he double booked it. I couldn't find him for the rest of the night. We went into another campsite because of this and was woken up by multiple people coming into it in the morning. I will not recommend this place or go back here

Secluded, quiet, and easy to get to. If you’re looking to stay in this campground, this was our favorite spot during our stay. Go for the 40’s definitely don’t go for the popular 60’s. Walking is beautiful no matter what.

When we arrived, our reserved campsite was already occupied. We could not find a Camp Host, so we went to the Grant Visitor Center (5 minutes before they closed!) & they told us they were short handed and could not do anything about the mix up. They directed us to an "admin" camp site that they hold for situations like ours. It was not very desirable...we were surrounded by large trailers, and the bathrooms were .05 mile away. The Camp Host stopped by late the next day, and we explained the situation. He checked our originally reserved camp site & found it to be clear, but we were already set up & not interested in moving then. We have never ever arrived at a campground to find out site occupied. I did a lot of research on the Azalea Campground & the individual sites, so to be relegated to a less than idea site was really disappointing. No one really helped us, except for the ranger at the Visitor Center...at least he got us a site. I feel we should be reimbursed for at least one night due to the fact that we could not occupy our reserved site that I booked 7 months earlier.

The route to the camp was not ideal for anything over 25 ft long, as there are many switchbacks and steep roads
Total off-grid with no nearby amenities, about a 15-minute walk to the visitor centre. The camp was super clean, and the NP is well-maintained. It is definitely worth a trip as the trees are beautiful. The rangers were helpful and gave us information about brown bears that were nearby by showed us where to store our food etc, and each plot had a metal storage cabinet, fire pit/BBQ and table and bench seat.
