About Lodgepole Campground-sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park

Lodgepole Campground is located in the breathtaking Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in central California's rugged Sierra Nevada range. Lodgepole is perched on the banks of the scenic and lengthy Marble Fork of the Kaweah River, at an elevation of 6,700 ft. The inspiring Giant Forest Grove and the mighty General Sherman Tree - the world's largest tree in volume - are just two miles from the campground.

213 is a great site. There is room for two tents and the walk to the bathroom (through a trail off the back of the site) is very short

Its not next to the parking lot, your going to have to climb 100 feet up the mountain while passing two other campsites to get to this spot, its a great view tho just know around. 12 to 4 you will have no shade in the campsite so its hot during summer

We recently stayed at Lodgepole Campground in Sequoia National Park, and overall we had a wonderful experience. The campground is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by towering trees and the sounds of nature everywhere.

We stayed at Site 169. It was close to the river, and being able to hear the water flowing at night was relaxing. The site offered plenty of room and felt somewhat private compared to some of the other campsites.

One downside for our particular site was that we couldn't pull our vehicle directly into the campsite and had to walk our gear in. Fortunately, the walk wasn't very far, so it wasn't a major issue.

The biggest disappointment was the shower situation. The showers are only open from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, which didn't really fit our schedule. There also appears to be only one shower facility for the entire campground, with around six showers available. As you can imagine, the lines were long in the evening when everyone is trying to shower before closing time. This was easily the weakest part of our stay and the one area that could really use improvement.

Despite the shower issue, Lodgepole is a beautiful campground in an incredible setting, and we would definitely consider staying here again.

Loved the location and atmosphere of this location. Definitely want to return again but will likely aim for a lot that has a little more shade. Had some good cellular service at the camp site but really enjoyed being close to the visitor center and market.

You cannot beat the location of this place. It is in the middle of everything. The bathrooms were pretty gross and never cleaned the 4 days we were there. We had loud neighbors, and there was no one to report them to until the next day.

The campground setting was beautiful landscape with clean, spacious sites. Having a shuttle stop within walking distance was invaluable! The bathrooms needed cleaning, especially after the morning rush.

Such a nice spot to stay and enjoy the weather! It was the best time we could stay. The only issue is that the river is not as the same labeled as camp ground and you should watch your small children.

  • If your campsite remains vacant for 24 hours after your arrival date it will be cancelled and made available on rec.gov. You will be charged for the first night's campsite fee and a $20 cancellation fee, all other fees after that will be refunded. Recreation.gov policies apply to all reservations, cancellations, refunds and date changes.  Call (559) 565-4404 if you will be arriving 24 hours after your arrival date so your site won't be cancelled. To leave a message call (559) 565-3714.Upon making a campground reservation: Site occupants agree to follow ALL campground rules. Failure to comply may result in a fine. You are responsible for your guests. 
  • Quiet Hours 10pm to 6am- Music, talking, and generators should not be audible beyond your immediate campsite. Unreasonable noise is prohibited any time of day.
  • Tire Chains may be required at any time. Be prepared at any time of year for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Check Road Conditions at nps.gov/seki . Vehicles longer than 22 feet (including trailers) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum. Visitors with vehicles over 22 feet in total length hoping to visit the Giant Forest or camp at Lodgepole and Dorst Creek Campgrounds are advised to enter via the northern, Highway 180, entrance to these parks.
  • Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible.  Falling Objects - Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks, or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound, and very little time to react). Report falling branches or trees to a ranger.
  • A California state fishing license is required to fish in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Sequoia National Forest lakes and streams. Fishing licenses may be available at National Park and National Forest markets.
