Moraine Campground offers a spacious and well-maintained environment, perfect for family camping and exploring nearby Kings Canyon. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, excellent hiking opportunities, and beautiful views, with a refreshing river nearby for cooling off. However, the campground is known for bear activity, which can lead to noise from car alarms at night, and some facilities may need improvement, such as bathroom cleanliness and better food storage education. Overall, it’s a lovely camping spot with room for improvement.

There are bears running through the campground because people feed them. At night there is endless honking at the bears, so not stay here , I heard the next campground up the road is better

nice site, It is further from the river than I expected. we had to walk down a pretty steep incline so we did not hang out by the river like you can at other campsites. There was a bear cub exploring on its own. It w2alked into a neighbor camp on night at 3 am, it walked into ours the next day around 4 PM as we were reading in a chair. we moved away pretty quickly and my brother grabbed the chips we were sharing, that was between the chairs. the bear sniffed around and headed off into the woods. :-)

Moraine campground was in great condition with all the restrooms and water spigots working perfectly. The campsites I saw were clear of debris and fully equipped with a fire ring, picnic table and bear box.
Friendly and helpful rangers checked in on us a couple of times during our stay and the store at Cedar grove was well stocked with provisions. Also the food at the snack bar was delicious.

Loved this King’s Canyon campsite. Loved the night my son and I spent camping here. Great spot if you don’t need showers near the campsite and you just want to connect with the earth. No lights at the bathroom. Just the mountains on both sides of the campground, the sound of the creek, a fire ring, a picnic table, a bear box and a bathroom with flushable toilets near by.

If you are afraid of yellow jackets it’s probably not your place as they came out every meal. Highly recommend putting all food and scented products like shampoo on the bear box. Did hear a bear at night on another campsite.

No cell. Great for unwinding without being online!

The site is great very huge actually ! Very close to the market & all the nice hike/ scenic spots like the roaring river falls, roads end trailhead, grizzly waterfall picnic are & more! They do give you bear warning coming in to the site because bears do come I didn’t see any but they have spacious bear box on site. We booked section 86 which was close to the river. The only reason why I gave 4 starts because there’s no safe route to get down the river. You have to hike down steep rocky hills to get to the water which is kinda unsafe. But overall nice scenic views around & nice campground

Highlights of our weekend trip to Kings Canyon and Cedar Grove involved the Ranger staff who led a hike at Zumwalt meadow and the person who staffed the small visitor's center when we arrived on Friday. The Ranger was so knowledgeable and fun. The staff at the visitor's center was also informative and helpful.
Campsites were well-spaced so that you weren't bothered by their activity and noise. The restroom had an outdoor sink which really helped for cleaning cookware. It also didn't run out of TP.
Hornets, or yellow jackets, were a bit bothersome at meals but a campfire helped to keep them away. I was glad I brought a swatter.

Great campground right in the center of it all! Bathrooms were close and decent enough with flushing toilets and a sink. Water spigots and dumpsters nearby. Sites aren't super well shaded so definitely bring a canopy. But most of all, beware of BEARS! Very active in the area. In the 3 nights we were camping, there was bear activity two of them. Lock away ALL your food and scented things in the bear box (not your car- they broke into someone else's car down the road) and you will be just fine.
