Had a great night at Sentinel Campground. Site was comfortable and quiet. It was a nice place to stay for the night before hiking the Rae Lakes Loop.

Sentinel Campground offers a beautiful setting with spacious, shaded sites and proximity to the river, making it ideal for hiking and outdoor activities. Many visitors appreciate the serene atmosphere and the campground's access to nearby amenities, such as the store and ranger programs. However, the facilities, particularly the restrooms, are in disrepair and require maintenance, which detracts from the overall experience.

Our family comes to camp here every year! Great views! No cell reception unless you connect to a satellite outside of the camp(text only). This campsite was right across from a bathroom, trash and water. Campsite was a good size and plenty of shade! We fit 2 10x10 canopys and 2 -sleeps 12 tents (we like to have plenty of room) 🤗 .

Best to avoid Sentinel campground. It is a mess at present. Restroom are in disrepair place hasn't been updated for decades. Great If you want to be close to the store, ride your bike or walk over the bridge to it.

I absolutely love this campground! My family and I look forward to it every year, it's become a sort of family tradition to head up to the mountains during summer time. We always have a memorable experience, whether it be bear prints around our campsite or bear sitings, booking reservations at one of the only cave's open to the public, and/or making our way down to treasured tourists spots. We love it, we get to know the area more each year we come and it's always such a wonderful experience. Couldn't recommend it enough! I love how close everything is, I also love the flushing toilets and the convince store and restaurant. Honestly if you didn't want to take anything and just buy a few snacks or food at the mini restaurant to eat each day, you totally could make a day trip out of it because of how convenient it is.

Recommend walking from the Sentinel camping ground to the Cedar Grove village for a refreshing swim in the river and hiking the Roaring river fall to the Zumwalt meadow (~3 mi roundtrip). Part of the trail runs right next to the river with pretty scenery. We had several bears visiting the camp site one night which provided some entertainment. 😊

Overall good camp site. Adequate space to pitch 3 two-person tents. Lots of ants but they did not cause any issues. Good location next to bathroom (although one of the women's toilet seats was broken). There are hot(/warm) showers available at the nearby at cedar grove lodge. Purchase shower tokens at the cedar grove store for $1.50 for 3-5 minutes (some showers are longer than others). The showers are not the cleanest but tolerable.

This campground - and all the others at Cedar Grove on Hwy 120 - was virtually empty - in the prime days of August. What is going on...theres no way all these sites should be unused, or people denied a site there for any reason. They should be given away in a publicized giveaway.

Weather was warm. bout 90's. River was low, but expected in August. Swimming was beautiful in the calm areas of the Kings River. The campground was well maintained, though when we arrived, our bear box was full of the previous campers trash. Please don't be like them. Inconsiderate and lazy.
Lots of bears around to keep you on your toes. don't be like our neighbors who left food out and got a very abrupt wakeup call at 4am, and subsequently woke half the campground up with their frantic attempts to shoo the 2, four legged guests to another site. Situational awareness is a must. Just read the provided instructions on how to avoid such an experience is conveniently posted on the provided bear box, in your campsite.
Mist Falls is a great hike, as well as the trails right out of the campground up to the cedar grove overlook and Sheep Creek. Fishing was ok with some Rainbows and Brookies. Talked to a guy said he caught a Golden, though I'm not sure he was being truthful.
I loved being back in Kings Canyon. I've spent a lot of time up in the high country and I'm feeling inspired to get back up there. Thank you to all the staff that work so hard to make the place it is. Your work is very much appreciated.
